This is what I did and it hasn't crashed for me since since:

I deleted the "Battlefield 2" folder in "my documents" and it hasn't crashed since.  The problem is with your profiles in that folder.

Once you've deleted the Battlefield 2 folder in "my documents" retrieve your account from EA when you log in and problem solved (you'll have to re-map your keys again if you changed them though as they go back to the default).

Try this out it worked for me.

When you change the video settings you are asked to restart the game. If you do that you will have created that folder again. Continues into epic circle untill the end of times (or a new patch).

I take it everyone knows how to retrieve they're account as I just got -1 from some plonker who I think doesn't know how to.

This does work.  I know of at least 9 people that have done this and had it work.


For AngelC-sq  The idea is to create a new folder, and I have only done this once.

When I installed patch 1.3 the game crashed roughly once every 40 minutes if I was lucky.  BF2 has not crashed once since I did the above.

does anyone know whats in the BF2 Folder thats making this shit happen ? i always have problems trying to log in when my password isnt saved, almost likes it fucks with me when i know im typing in the right password.

so does anyone know what file should be deleted because im sure it cant be every file thats crashing the game or could i be wrong ?

I found the "JOIN"  CTD problem went away when I waited for the background music to go quiet before joining.  It seemd the premature join was causing a problem

I have also noticed issues in earlier version of patches where the saved password was doubled when logging in to my account.. I think most of the problems occur with the changes in code an the incompatibility with somefiles stored here. also there is a cache for this game... that should be cleaned out as well to aviod issues.. even most mods do this.. you would think a patch from EA/DICE would but.. they are .... welll...  you get the point..

I have done all this and still randomly CTD w/ this patch... It's not Win.. it's just the code changes are unstable.. I'll be waiting for 1.3.1 , and QuakeWars... maybe Halo2 for Vista... either way.. I'm stuck playing on my Halo Server for now.
