gamepads--does anybody else use one for heli's planes

i use a gamepad for helis and planes as i find its hell of alot easier to fly them compared to kb/mouse
i was just foolin around one day and realized whoa i suck at flying helis and everytime i get in a plane i crash in about 2 seconds and i have a controller for playing madden on the pc.... so after about half an hour in a server all by myself i finally configured my gamepad for helis and jets...then when 1.3 came out and i had to reinstall everything again i had to re-configure my gamepad again.... boo screw you ea and your damn patches!!!.... so yeah just wondering if anybody else uses a gamepad for heli's/ planes

Someone on the IRC channel uses one but I can't remember who it is. I want to say Z-trooper uses one for helicopters, but I might be mistaken.

I fly planes with my 100€ joystick and every round in good jet i get +40 kills.

i actually use a wired xbox 360 controller. works really well except that the triggers cant be used for anything.

since they are anolog, they are like the analog sticks not actualy buttons. But i am pretty good with it and i suck with a joystick

i used a gampand for everything. till i found the wonderfull thing called a mouse and keyboard then i converted to the dark side of the keyboard universe. but up untill then i was a haardcore gamepad user. i used a gravis after shock gampad since the beging of battle field and loved it and couldn't see why no one else used it. but i only use it now as a paper weight i went out and bought a Satek X52 or the flying and do reallllly good with it and a mx1000 mouse and a mx5000 keybaord and i have improved my KDR from a .712 to a cureent .7980 i think.

I own with joystick and would use nothing else! Jets and heli's, I couldn't fly without it.

man i cant fly without my gamepaad at all..... well i could fly the bh or whatever to get from one point to another but theres no way i would try to fly the attack heli or a plane without my gamepad because i dont own a joystick but if i did i probably will still fly the heli with it but joystick for planes if i had one

but for anyone else that has a gamepad but flys with keyboard/ mouse try out the gamepad u wont go back to key board n mouse

i fly jet's with a jpad,i'm so used to using it i suck if i have to go back to keyboard,i use thrustmaster dualshock3,also use joytokey to double bind 2 keys to a jpad button to do 1 press spotting when dogfighting.
heli's i preffer mouse & keys,more fluid control with mouse if you turn sensativity up full.

my mate fly's using a x52 joystick,nice but i'll stick with what i'm used to.

Wow.. dont use "suck", "thrustmaster", "sensative" and "my mates" in the same sentence you got me horny

I use the Ole Wingman Xtreme, when I fly, but it's rare that I get in a jet or helo, I find it more competitive to use pixel dude on the ground.

lol,pixel dude rules,especially pixel medic dude for me lately on sharqi 24/7 64man servers,that maps the best IMO for infantry battles & racking up some good scores without getting spawnfucked by armor.
rest of my gametime i like to spend owning in the paper airoplanes,fave jet = mig,just wish there was a map with mig vs j10.
if anyones thinking of using a jpad for jet control & want a good control layout i'll gladly post a pic showing how i got my buttons set out.

I use a mouse and keyboard for everything, and have alright ratios in jets and choppers. Although, a friend of mine who is ranked pretty high in aviator says he uses a gamepad, and doens't understand how I can fly with a mouse and keyboard. Anyway, I think its much easier with a mouse and keyboard, but I suppose its just what your used to.

have you tried [url=http://xbcd360guide.50webs.com/]XBCD[/url] as an alternative driver?
it has several possibilities to set up your triggers, digital, separate axis analog, one axis analog, you can even switch between your profiles with the xb-live button.
I wouldnt ever use a xbox/360 gamepad on the PC without this fine driver, as it lets you properly configure the deadzone, which lots of games miss nowadays.

I was thinking of giving the gamepad a try with a heli, but dont think I will be able to control throttle well with an analog trigger.

well its a ps2 style controller so i use what is X but really is button 2 or something to get altitude and "square" which is like button 4 or something like that to lose altitude

but i dont really fly a whole lot so dont bother looking at my stats to see who well i do

Mouse will always be better for FPS's or for flying helis... the "twitch" factor and speed of a good mouse is something that thumb joysticks will never be able to compare to.

I use a joystick when I am flying a plane. I can get 50% more kills that way. If I use a joystick with a helie than I might as well crash on the landing pad. I have to use a keyboard and mouse with the choppers.

I use the nostromo n52 speedpad for most keyboard controls and mouse/n52 for heli's and I have a logitech Extreme 3D pro joystick but im worse with the joystick for flying than I am with the Mouse and n52. I am a pretty good pilot in the Heli but not so good of a gunner.
