RAM question

Hey guys, currently I have 1 GIG of RAM, and it takes anywhere from 2-4 minutes to load up a map.

If i upgrade to 1.5 GIGs of RAM, how much do you think the loading time would go down to?

I don't wanna spend $80 for nothing

It will help a little, most of your loading speed is your hard drive though.

Look at OCZ platnium 2 gigs, newegg has it for a great price and its perfect for BF2 great speeds

what you want is 2 GB, not 1.5. BF eats 1.25 GB if it is there. However, the map loading time is largely due to the verificatin that all your client files are untampered; a faster harddrive is the best solution. Raptor drives are popular.

also get rid of your video background will give you another 256mg of ram if you need help in doing it just post will give everyone the run down

if you can get 3 gb of ram then you will never have as much problems

Yeah it's just that i have 3 out of my 4 RAM slots filled, and if i bought another gig i'd need to take out a 512, wasting $80

buy a single 1gb chip instead of 2x512. 3 gb is useless, with 2 gb you will always have 500-700 mb left for windows to run

What do you mean your video background?

He means the video that is playing after you login. (With the soldier firing the gun)

Just go into your movies folder or whatever it is and rename all of the .bik files to turn them off.
