Everytime I load into a server my mic goes to mute and my mic boost shuts off, therefore I have to alt+tab to desktop to turn mic mute off and turn mic boost on.

What soundcard do you use, and what are your audio settings in BF2?
I had a similar problem - using vent my mic boost was turned off every time I joined a server. after some time I figured out that my mic boost in BF was turned off and that turned off the windows mic boost everytime I joined a server - maybe the same goes for you
just a minor glitch, it's most likely something to do with a wrong audio setting in options
I have an xfi-FPS sound card....my mic boost is on in game so I know its not that.....It not only turns off my mic boost but it mutes my mic totally.
