BF2S Forums what ever happend to having fun in bf2?

Eh, the ranking system is EA's way of keeping us playing, in my opinion.  They are always coming out with new medals and ribbons, and creating higher ranked for people to earn.  It's actually a brilliant strategy in keeping people playing the game.  Unfortunetly, people do take the ranking system too seriously, and some people play the game simply for the points.  It's sad, but it is the truth.

Not to long ago I was a point whore...I played for points. I must admit I did get a rush when I owned and got loads of points. But ever since I ranked up at 50k, I know play for fun. I play on maps I like, I snipe for fun with my RIFLE, not claymores, I always play in squads (I alway have, but now I actualy use a ton of team work). I just have fun. Just an hour or so ago I played 2 round of Mashtuur. I played mostly as Spec Ops, going in all tactical with my squad capping bases and stratigacly using C4. I had a ton of fun. Best of all, I was able to close the game after 2 rounds, because I wasn't just going for points. I was content with my gaming, because I had so much fun. I feel like it is July again. I am playing like I used too, not for points. This game rocks. BTW I have advice if ur looking to re-enlighten ur BF2 experience....DON'T PLAY MEDIC! lol, when medic u tend to point whore. Play somethign like Assault, Spec.Ops, or AT. You tend to play more tacticaly. Just my twp hundreths of a dollar...so take it or leave it.

I find myself saying "A fck my KDR is shot to hell" for a few deaths. I myself have been taken over the image of power in having good stats.

Thinking about it when the game isnt on my mind I find it pathetic but ingame I can't stop thinking about a few dumb numbers.

Why, so you can neg them? It wasn't me, I don't neg people, but your logic is flawed and will only convince the people on the recieving end of -1s. But your post isnt very legible, and one way to take it is that "People bitching about the game makes the game bad."

Well, you can expect to be disliked for that because your abshing the topic on conversation.

Yes, I agree.  When I got my stats reset, I stopped going for points and just played for fun.  I must say that, considering it was 1.2 (the 2nd worse patch ever), I had a GREAT time just screwing around.  The ranking system, although it has prolonged the life of vanilla BF2, has ruined the gameplay.

though I must say lately that I have seen a return to fun the past few weeks, with a lot of people even on the opposing team helping me get the hang of the warthog and stuff, but then I've also been on alot of servers that didn't have enough people to start a game so we didn't have anything to do but screw around while we waited anyway

it's a foocking game people, these asswipes make me miss tribes 2.......SHAZBOT!

problemsolver you hit it right on the nose.  I used to only play Karkand and Sharqi because I wanted to avoid using vehicles because of all those people who when killed by a vehicle instantly claim you are a whore.  I have started using classes that I don't usually use, and have found the Anti Tank kit to be my favorite.  The mp5 may not be the most powerful weapon out there, but dang it is fun to use.  I have also gotten to fly helicopters a bit more recently and I love it.

I can't wait till 2142 comes out because a lot of the pricks will leave and go play that game.  Then BF2 should be a better game.

Maybe people are caring too much of points, because there is these places where you can see KDR, SPM and stuff and then people see "Oh my gosh that guy has better KDR than me oh I'm so noob I have to get better KDR". And then there is topics like "Rate stats above you" what makes people think they're not good when they see those good stats of people who post in those topics, because average players don't post in those topics because they fear that people say that their stats suck. Another reason is unlocks. Btw EA has made it wise, like if you don't buy SF = you get less weapons and not so good weapons.

I can see why Superior Mind stopped caring about points after 50k, because after that there's no more unlocks.
