Totally agree.. at the end of the day other people who look at your stats will hardly give a shit.. and if you are good will just say "no life" "get out more" .. just have fun, your the one winning then.
I think so many people want to be high ranks because they have no status in real life.. so want a good status at something so have to resort to games.

But yeah this game has been overridden by people who play for, nay LIVE for those ever important points, sure, i like it when i go up a rank or achive a medal, but don't spend every living moment trying to get that medal, nor do i statpad which is Extremely pathetic thing to do.... as is the people who teamkill for 'thier vehicle' if a person who is in a plane is doing well and contibuting to the teams victory, and has not teamkilled or PTK to get the plane, and i get it first i will gladly allow that person to take the plane instead of me... as Dirtracer has experienced i have also been tked for my kit because the incompetent retard chose the wrong one on spawn and claimed that 'he was better, so needed it more' - the bastard was banned. it happened to me on DOD: S as well i had sniper kit on a server were the amount of sniper kits were limited, he aslo tked me claiming the same, so i shot him a few time with the pistol, until he tked me enough times to be banned for tking.. these people are nothing more than insolent little children who's balls are yet to drop.

Back on topic, the only reason the patch changes this and that is because people do complain to EA that this and that in unfair.
Example: Too many people complained about the missile count on the choppers. The real missile count on a chopper is around 40+. In the game its 14. People started to complain its was too much and complained to EA. Now EA changed the missile count to make all the complainers stfu already.
People who do complain about everything and have EA change the game do suck the fun out of everything.

Well, I sure know that nobody is about to accuse me of being a stat whore (not with these stats).
The ranks/weapons/awards are really cool. I like getting a new unlock, I like getting awards, I'm even mildly interested in my stats; not how good they are but what sort of player I am (crappy).
That boycott a little while back tought me something:
We put a load of other games on our servers (a shameless play to attract attention to try and promote our servers - I gotta pay for them somehow), I made sure I played every one of them and I had a great time. I played HL2 deathmatch and CSS, they were crazy and interesting with some fun weapons (getting a pisser wrapped round your head is a strange experience). I played UT2k4 deathmatch and deathball and they were very very frenetic with some mad-ass guns. I played FEAR and CoD2 and they were great fun two.
All in all I had a great weekend meeting new people in strange places and getting pwnd by them all.
But I tell you something, none of them was a patch on BF2.
Other games, for me, are a nice place to visit but I woulodn't want to live there. I have invested more money than i dare to think and more time that my gf should have to put up with in developing a gaming clan and community based around (currently) BF2. We do what we can do reduce the smacktards (rules like 'queue for vehicles', members who are chosen for maturity and not '1337 sk1lz', admins who have patience and give a damn about how the server runs (far more than they do about their stats). There are opertunitiies to host events like last night where some top people get together and shoot the shit out of each other.
Sure stats are great, but it's the community that matters. I mostly play in closed sessions (hence my 'monster 'stats) clan matches and the like.
My point... ...I know I had one.... oh yeah, I agree with the above posts that say stats don't matter but then I also think they're nice. There will aways be dunbasses that want something other than you but meet up with those you get on with and enjoy the game you love with people you like.

I like remember how I used to sit all day on my dads computer for the first few weeks that I had this game and going all crazy over getting my Purple Heart and my Basic Armor badge..!! I was like woooow had soo much fun in this game,, gradually that disappeared but its comin back slowely

you should get more points for sticking within a certain radius of your squadleader, maybe even more for staying within a certain radius of the command smoke, since there seems to be a rise in cap whores that just run off to the next flag without defending the one you just capped, even if that's your order
