Since I built my new computer, I used my old one to install a linux distro. I was able to install the dedicated BF2 linux software, but I was unable to set it up over the Internet. Everything else works great, VOIP, bots, rotation, automatic upload of BattleRecorder files to my server, etc. The only two things I couldn't get working were...

- Make the server show up to everyone (not just LAN)
- Allow users to have their rank and global unlocks

Any help would be appreciated. I'm thinking I have to open up the BF2 ports on my router. Every guide I find says to use different ports...which are the right ones? And I did set the sv.internet to 1.

You have to rent a ranked server. You can not run them your self.

The reason for people not having their rank/unlock is becasue your srver is not ranked

When setting the server up there is an option for it to be LAN or internet. Go back and take a look.

From what I understood you can have the unlocks/rank without it being a ranked server. I've played on unranked servers where I still had my unlocks/rank. And yes, I set the server up to be on the internet.

There is an option called 'allow global unlocks' you have to select this and then all players will be able to use all weapons. To my knowledge you can not have ranks unless you are playing on a public ranked server.

If you have set the server up to be on internet then i can only assume that there is a firewall issue
