Ok, I fixed the game from crashing to the desktop everytime I joined a game, not I join a game and not 30 sec. into the game I get a "connection lost" and get booted from that server. I have tried at least 5-6 different servers with the same result, anybody have any suggestions?
Now the question is, how did you fix the CTD ? Maybe you did something bad.
It may be my pc but everytime i click "join game" right after the loading is compleet it crashes(like most people around here have), but when i wait a few seconds (10/15) there is a much smaller change of crashing.
all i do is that when it "CTD" restart the program and then just find another server and it should be fine i have never had it "CTD" twice.
i noticed something that might be related to 'waiting a few secs' before joining. even after I joined there (wihtout crashing which is rare lately) there is one point around 5 secs after joining where the whole game freezes for a short moment and my computer seems to have some trouble. some times the game continues after that and some other times it freezes completly... maybe I should wait a few secs as well before joining.. that could stop the freezing

I know exactly what you mean... It really ticks me off that you have to wait until the map is loaded (which takes long enough), then you consider yourself lucky for not having another CTD and BANG the game freezes... sucks (restarting takes time as well)^*AlphA*^ wrote:

btw did anyone of you notice that some maps tend to have more CTDs than others? might be just a feeling but roadrage crashed a lot more than midnight or harvest for me
I think it is a problem with the amount of main memory. When I play the game with medium settings it starts much faster and there is no action on harddisk (and no freeze). If I play with high settings it takes a day to start up (lol), it freezes and the HD LED shines´bright. I upgraded from 1 Gig to 1,5 Gig and it became
much better.

With me it will even crash sometimes if I don't press Join Game at all.

What I did to fix the CtD is, Delete the BF2 file in your "My Documents" when you get on BF2 retrieve your account it should work. You will need to reset your keys as they will all go back to the defaults. Thanks to Stomper_40k for telling bout this.
i tried the 10-15 sec wait method and didnt crash yesterday... but i cant test any longer cause my right wrist is bandaged an not "working" fot quite some time it seems - but good luck with the crash issue folks!
