I did some pretty thorough searches and couldn't find anything about this.  If I missed something or I'm just dumb, let me know...

What's the best way to play online with friends, as in know when they're online, jump into servers with them, things like that?  I read the section about xfire, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.  Are there any other third-party programs out there worth trying?  And does anyone know if EA has any intentions of creating an in-game "buddy list?"  Thanks a ton, guys.

xfire is one way and you can also use this site, just type in the nick and on there stats page it will tell you what server they are in just under the pic of there most used kit.

also if you then click the server it will take you to game monitor and tell you the ip and stuff...

http://www.game-monitor.com/ just type in their name. i've gone so far as to create a site with all my buddies. Game monitor lets you create sig blocks as well and i just put them all on one page.

I just use chuy's "My Leaderboard" on this site. I type in all the nicks of my mates, save it, and it's all right there on the home page.

The challange is then getting on the same team. Even after you manage to get in a squad, there's no guarantee you'll stay together since BF2 has a nasty way of finding the squad with friends and spliting them to different teams.
