I got vet on Karkand, but I never stuck a C4 on a jeep (at least not one that I got in and drove afterwards, hehe), I never went South of the hotel (I was MEC, meaning I didn't set C4 at the East artie US spawn point), I didn't use the C4 quick-draw trick but once or twice (I did throw several times... but usually let it stick...  the times I didn't was because I knew I was about to die), and only suicided a few times (sorry... but if I'm backing away from the C4 target, say a tank, and the turrent turns towards me, I'm blowing it and hoping for the best...  I've had too many times I planted C4, and was killed before I could get out of range... so when faced with a clear choice of me, or me AND them, I choose the latter).

Pretty fun, actually.  I'd say the two biggest things to learn is a) how to sneak up on armor without getting spotted, part of which is knowing when they already know you're there, from UAV or a spotting, and b) behavioral prediction.  Knowing which flag is the one they're likely to hit soon...  watching a guy run around a corner, and knowing where he's going, and what route he's taking, etc.  Given that... it's no wonder I tried and tried, but was unable to get it until I tried on Karkand...  it's the map on which I have the most experience (and can make the most accurate predictions).

Also... for C4'ing a CP, some tips...

a) if you're on a loosing side, with only a few CPs left, this is a great time for C4 kills.  Either go to one of the few flags left, and C4 it (someone's bound to try getting it really soon), or, let's say it's Karkand and you're MEC, and they have everything West of the River...  go cap the Square, or the hill (is that it's name?), or the Hotel.  Someone on USMC will notice, and head that way... because they want to keep MEC confined to their base's side of the river... also, someone spawning back at the USMC base for a fresh tank or APC is bound to want to cap that easy flag, before competing with their other teammates in the heavy-fire zone.  Of course... you have a suprise waiting for them.

b) Use, at most, 2 C4 around a flag pole.  This will get pretty much any infantry trying to cap, unless they're at a flag where you can cap from around a corner, or in a building, etc.  Try and learn the full radius of the flag, and the most common ways people try to cap it, and cover all the angles (and dropping 5 C4's in a circle around a flag is far less effective... It's a big red "booby trap" sign, and if I'm coming up on a flag and see that... I'm not going in there... I'm looking for a spec ops somewhere... and maybe asking a commander to spot him for me).  Know where people have to drive vehicles to cap from a tank/apc/etc... and consider dropping 2 there (for a lot of flags, this is a VERY specific spot), though it's not always easy to drop them in a way they won't be noticed (though it may make a guy park out of range, and get out and go to the flag on the other side of the wall, etc, and you still get him, and a ride too, if you like...  I dunno, can you shoot/blow C4?  I know you can AT mines... either way, not everyone will try).  Or, if you hide in a spot above the flag, and have good aim, you can always throw your extras on top of the tank/apc for the kill.

c) Hiding...  it is VERY important, I have found, to hide somewhere that you can't see the people capping the flag...  and preferably, can't see them approaching the flag either...  if you can't see them, they can't see you.  Also, preferably somewhere that they can't get to easily on the way to the flag.  Any guy capping a flag will be scanning the area around him... if you can see him, chances are he can spot you (unless you've run off to sniper range, or something).  Odds are, if there's heavy fighting, he won't have UAV, but a good commander will see guys going for a flag, will see you, the lone blip on his screen, and spot you for them.  In this case, if they can see you, you're as good as dead (or you're getting into a gunfight)...  they look in the direction of the blip, and have you (and you, holding your detonator rather than your carbine).  Again... they're likely doing this before they even get to the flag.  If you're just around a corner, and on their way to the flag, same deal.  Now... if you're somewhat out of the way, they'll likely watch for you, while headed for the flag.  If they can't see you... they don't worry too much (they just watch for you to peek out and start firing, but want to make sure that reinforcements can't spawn, or that if they get you, you can't respawn there).  Now, when I got basic, I was hiding COMPLETELY out of sight.  I'd watch the map, and detonate when the flag turned white.  This is good and bad... I was rarely killed by someone approaching the flag, at that point, of course, people aren't wandering off yet, because they're only 50% done, you also have more time for the rest of a squad or group to have arrived to try for cap assists, and you get points for flag capture when you re-take it.  The downside is, if you don't get 'em all, you blow it, and run out to re-take, and they're shooting at you, and you can't respawn there, the flag is lost.  I had changed that up by the time I got Vet.  The key is still to hide where you can't see them, and they can't see you... but where you can see the very top of the flagpole.  You just watch the flag...  when it starts to come down, you know there's enemy there.  I watch it come down, and wait just a moment (or sometimes I peek over the wall, or out the window... because odds are good that if spotted, I can kill them 1-click kill before they can lay a round on me), I either wait just a moment, hoping to get everyone in range, or peek over if confident of my spot, to make sure it's not armor in a spot I haven't covered (and if I hear wheels/tracks coming up, I look)... no sense blowing C4 that's not going to kill anyone, and alerting them to what's going on.  If I can throw spare C4 at/on the tank, and then get it, I do...  if I just can't do it, I let 'em take it, then wait for them to leave, and re-cap (IE: re-arm the booby trap).

And for safety's sake, watch the mini-map too, and don't blow it if there's friendlies in range (but the second they get shot dead... hit it).
