Hey, I heard something about this ages ago.  Somehow, the person "warning" everyone about the virus gains control over the server.  Don't know how, I just remember this happening.  Warning +1.

Yea, but if you would post in other sections maybe, just maybe other people would check out the other parts of the forums instead of coming here for EVERYTHING. And your putting topics that are about BF2 on the second page where they will be lost for eva. So, please, next time, Not BF2, Not BF2s please. kthxbai.

I can't believe how gullable some people are.  This is soo obviously fake it hurts....

The reason I know it's fake is because of the advice it gives about it, this line is a killer...

"If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend,
do not open it and shut down your computer immediately."

If you do receive an E-mail with a known virus, the virus can only be executed by double clicking the attachment and not by simply opening the mail.  Shutting down you computer is pointless if you haven't run it, you might as well just delete it.  The post also does not tell you to delete the mail which will stop it from harming your PC providing you haven't run the viral attachment,  This is a hoax!

This is the standard format for fake virus alerts; anyone who has been online for a while should have seen at least one or two versions of it by now. In fact this warnng is actually a 'virus' of sorts in that it propogates itself.

I can't imagine the added load this sort of thing, and chain letters (*Send this to ten people and you'll be blessed! Honest it works!*) add to mail servers around the world.

It said it in the link you posted or did you not read it?   I appreciate you may have thought you were helping but you clearly didn't read any of the text in the link you posted or otherwise you would have seen it was bollocks.  Here's one of the posts from said link....

"Olympic torch" virus warning is really a hoax........ lol this is the Internet people, not everything can be believed and you got this via E-mail you say? n00bie your "friend tricked ya as it one of those chain letters that just waits everones time that is dumb enought to fall for it. Another example was the MSN messenger E-mail that tells you that you have to pay to keep your MSN account open *sigh* idiots.

Anyway still dont believe me? READ THIS!

Experts at SophosLabs™, Sophos's global network of virus, spyware and spam analysis centers, have warned users not to fall for a new hoax spreading across the internet, posing as a warning of a non-existent virus.

The Olympic Torch hoax warns email users to be wary of emails with the subject line "Invitation", and claims that it has been classified as "the most destructive virus ever." The hoax claims that the "virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc".

"The warning is clearly nonsense and no such virus exists," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos.

I now suggest that you go to what ever other forum you posted this on also and say it was a hoax because I'm dumb enought to fall for this $h!t
