i just switched about a month or so ago from 512 to 1.5 gb. and it s awesome. i dont use high settings but could if i chose. i still want to have 2gb for good measure.

I played at first on 768, it wasn't too bad for all low. Then, when building my new computer, I had to use 512 for a while, then 1 gb. It really does make a difference, and I bet upgrading to 2 gb would help more.

RAM doesn't affect your Graphic lag as much as your Gfx Card does.

Someone with 512mb and a 7900GT could run all high while someone with 2gb and a shit generic office card could only run all low.

I'm running a 256mb 7800gtx w/ 2gb of ram and on high settings, it takes around 30-60 seconds to load a map. I just tweaked them a bit and now it takes lik 15-25 to load a map, glorious.

wrong, i have a 6600 Geforece which is crap but i run evrything in High now with no lag at all ;] thanks to my 1.5GB ram!

I have 2gb or ram but I run nearly everything on medium (I think there is one on high)

I read somewhere that there isn't a huge difference from medium-high so I figured that I would load faster and have less lag with them on medium.

Is this true and could someone tell me what I should run on high?

Wrong. If your RAM is bottlenecking your CPU or GPU, then upgrading RAM will vastly improve performance. However, really good RAM next to a piece of junk CPU will bottleneck the RAM, and same goes for good RAM next to a crappy video card.

First, the AMount of Ram has no effect on your video settings. Period. If you think you can now suddenly runn better video settings.... Guess what... You could of run those before the upgrade. BF2 uses GPU and Video Ram for the graphics settings. What Ram does allow you to do is load more for quick access. Writing 1gig of info to Ram is a LOT faster than writing 1 gig of info to your virtual Page file. THus loading times are MUCH faster.

Comparing Videos Setting us useless without disclosing what RESOLUTION your running..... SO what if your on all High settings with AA and AF Maxed if your running 800x600..... Big whoop.. My old 9600pro would of dont that.... Try those settings at 1680x1050 and watch your video card fall to its knees pump out a massive 12-18fps.....

As far as the Ram goes, did any of you even find out if he was on an AMD or Intel System???? Memory does NOT bottleneck a AMD system. The controller is on the CPU. There is at least a 1600Mhz Biderectional bus diectly between the memory and CPU at all times on 754 and 939 platforms.

The AMount of Ram cannot change the Ram Bus! The SPEED of the ram can have some minor effects.. Buf if you have 512mb of crap ram and add 1gb of Super Fantastic Ram, guess what you end up with?? Thats right 1.5gbs of CRAP ram.... Ram runs at the LEAST COMMON speed if your Mixing...

THis is a prime example of why "Tech" forums on Gaming boards are dangerous....... Too many people shouting out information that they dont know.

Visit some Overclocking forums if you want PC advice...
