Many Scots dont like Haggis either, but i think i am one of the few who really enjoys eating it. Too bad i only really eat it once a year on Burns Night.

Depends on your viewpoint... Some of us Texans believe that we have a nation all to our own....

If that were the case then the national food would be BBQ and Beer.

As for the reality of it, what kind of food would you really label as all American?  The conglomerate of nationalities that is the US is comprised of waaaaay too many different cultures to say that this one food is USA's national meal.

Totally forgot about that! Nothing beats a plain porkchop with a side of cinnamon apple sauce for dipping! NOTHING!!! yes it sounds weird/disgusting but give it a try, the porkey goodness  melds with the sweety appleiness to give you strange goodness

Our national meal is argubly, Roast Lamb, Leeks, Roast Potatoes and veg. It probably happens to be my fav meal to cook and to eat.  Probably my Staff's (dog) fav meal to as it gets a huge bone to chew on.

We are also known for Welsh Rarebit, basically cheese on toast with a slice of tomato chucked on for good measure.

EDIT: I just found this as well:
English food has traditionally been based on beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish and generally served with potatoes and one other vegetable. The most common and typical foods eaten in England include the sandwich, fish and chips, pies like the Cornish pasty, trifle and roasts dinners. Some of our main dishes have strange names like Bubble & Squeak, Spotted Dick and Toad-in-the-Hole.

What may appear strange to our overseas visitors is that not all our puddings are sweet puddings, some are eaten during the the starter or main course like Yorkshire Pudding and Black Pudding.

The staple foods of England are meat, fish, potatoes, flour, butter and eggs. Many of our dishes are based on these foods.

Time for some good old stereotypes.

Italy: pizza's homeland.
We are known for pasta too (REAL pasta, not that overcooked english/german shit), but our cuisine OWNS miserably everyone's else, in any aspect, Meats, fish, desserts, not mentioning our absolutely inimitable wines.

What is an ulster fry?  Is that English breakfast + soda bread + white pudding - fried bread?

btw, tiptopT, have you tried the deep fried Mars bar?  It's heart-attack-city and it'll burn your tongue off but it's still gorgeous.
