Hello,

Well when you are loading a map right, after it does the 0-100% bar at the bottom then says something along the lines of "Loading Client Data...." .... and that's generally the part that takes the longest... well for me anyway...

what helps to make the map load faster

I have broadband already

just wondering if it's got something to do with your graphics card, ram etc?

im not sure wether its interent realted msotly, as it checks on files in your computer, so surely a higher RAM amount would increase the speed it checks them?

MORE RAM! Guranteed to reduce verifying client data and load times.

I think I read somewhere that a faster hard drive speeds up the loading and verifying.

It checks all your client files to see if you have edited them, so yeah faster HDD and more RAM will lower the time it takes

Turn textures and geometry down to low.

RAM will help client data loading times, but it mainly depends on CPU speed.

Kthxbye, get an AMD

yeh, they already are down to low

I'll just pick up another stick...

I have 512mb already, would another 512mb stick do?

how much would it cut the time down to? like what are the loading times for you guys and how much do you have?

the loading client data is not the RAM. it is in fact (so i believe) your hard drive. if you have a 7200rpm it should load just fine. if you can afford to buy a raptor (10000rpm) then even better. also, it helps to defrag your system now and then. i believe

i heard it best to duel channel (i think its called that) with ram, as wen i was gonna get another 512 to make it 1.5, i was told it would take longer to load. so 2 x 512 wud be good and 2 x 1gb wud be even better.

Bah. I used to be last in the server when I had 512Mb for RAM. Now I have 2.5 Gb@533MHz and I'm first every time and still have a 7,200rpm HD. My HD is full of crap and I never defrag. RAM is the answer.

Upgrade to 2gigs RAM. Cuts down loading time massively, all ingame lag gone, when you Alt-Tab or just exit it doesn't lag at all.
