I have a good idea for a movie, it involves Mashtuur City, and some audio from Blackhawk Down. It is NOT a gun and kill video. It is a movie that will give some sort of experience to the casualties that happen in war and what happens when things like that happen. I would like to explain this more to someone who has made some good movies already, since I haven't made a movie yet, and I would love to learn cause I think I have some great ideas for movies in my head. The problem I'm running into is that I don't have a movie making program, and I think if I got one I could atleast try to do something with it. Does anyone know any free or cheap but good movie making program? If I do get this I will tell more people what I'm going to make, but call me paranoid, I don't want someone to steal the idea untill I know I'm going to make it. I haven't seen a BF2 video like the one I have planned so that's why I'm really withholding the info about it.

Again, if someone is experienced with movie making, please respond here or email me at, casalino@gmail.com. Please, no troll posts here, I just want some help with the movie making, etc.

Hey mort, yea I'm using WindowsXP, I just can't seem to find the editor. And with the Battlerecorder, that's a question I was asking how to make it clean without names.

ok i cant post in that topic on your forum

anyway i just gonna answer here.
first go here http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.ph … mp;start=0 and especially make yourself familiar with the recording of camera movements and download the demo.cmd file from the link there.
ok explanation for the camera movements precedure. you need that to get rid of the name tags in the battle recorder. so far i couldnt find another way and even EA said in an email that its not possible
then i suggest not to use the ingame renderer like in the above link described but use fraps while replaying those movies with the pre-recorded camera.
also you wanna go to 300% speed at the beginning through the replay rose (Q) to get rid of the mouse pointer, i discoverd that by accident cause it isnt documented either. of course you can switch to normal mode emmideatly again.

i dunno if theres a way to make vehicles wracks stay longer since i dont have any experience with the server configs. but there may be a way in SP recording. if you stop the demo recording with a wrack in picture it will stay but be animated (smoking). but then you cant have actors there

like i said. record a camera movement and then in the resulting replay, all instructions how to achieve that are on the linked page, you wont see any name tags. you only have to remove the console by typing "renderer.drawhud 0" (without the "" of course ) into the console to get rid of death messages etc.

I see, what video program do you use? I just "got" Adobe Premier Pro 7.0 and I'm using it to try and do this. Do you use it? Any tips would be appreciated.

mort, I can't seem to find the command to get rid of the player names, not the console that lists kills, but the name above each players head in BattleRecorder.

try the left alt button...it toggles the 3d map that includes the flag icons, the mine icons, the names, etc...

as far as the HUD, try typing in "renderer.drawHud 0" into the console--this will remove everything (i.e. the minimap, weapon info, etc...

EXCELLENT. I hate people who think that Windows Movie Maker is so grand, because it's like using MSPaint to remove redeye.

Use a combination of Adobe Premiere Pro and VirtualDub (VirtualDub is downloadable) and that's all you need.

When you have your raw clips, first use VirtualDub to resize, crop, trim, and remove sound if desired (takes up lots of extra space) but do not compress them. I'll say why later. Everything is pretty much in the video/audio menus, and under Filters is where you add all your fancy shmancy stuff, not hard to know what's what.

Premiere (yes there's an E) Pro is a simple drag and drop procedure. Right click and use unlink audio/video if you want to separate the tracks so you can overlay some different audio tracks, etc. You can also trim the movies here but I recommend going back to VirtualDub as the cut is neater and more accurate. Simply put one movie after the other, use effects if desired (select video portion, choose an effect and fill in details), and organize your final movie here. After you export it, reopen it with VirtualDub and compress it with a DivX 4.0 ;) or DivX 6.0 codec. (DivX 4.0 ;) is a different codec from the normal DivX's).

By codec-ing it now you don't lose quality that you would've lost from compressing it twice, but you use up a lot more space with the previous raw videos staynig in uncompressed RGB. Have any questions, don't hesitate to ask

I've made a couple movies with just the free fraps capture program (www.fraps.com) and windows movie maker. I have XP home and I have movie maker at "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker". Since you say you couldn't find it.

By the way, the service pack 2 (SP2) version of movie maker is much better than SP1. More titles and effects, etc. Very easy to use also. I haven't tried any of the better software programs yet, but eventually will. MM has just the basics, so keep that in mind.

I made these in just a few hours.

At $600 per seat this ended up being your free\cheap solution?

note the quotations around "got".

i "got" one too.

i shall say no more.

edit; DON'T use Indeo Codecs. They may be efficient and qualitative, but 60% of the computers out there are gonna have explorer crash because they don't have it and it'll take a bit of time before they even realize that its a codec problem, and then fix it. That kind of thing is not attractive to your rep.
