It's really not so hard to buy something cheap that works with BF2. Show him some deals on Newegg and maybe he'll reconsider, if not then he just won't be able to play it because he's too scared to pay another $50-75. This would even work for BF2, a PCI (Not PCI-e, you heard right, PCI) graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814103167
LOL no
I just installed BF2 on my notebook to see if it would work on it. It looks ugly, but it works. It makes me kind of dizzy to play on it, though. My notebook only has a Radeon x200. My PC has Nvidia Gforce 6600 GT and 1.5 G RAM. It looks beautiful on my PC! (Although it could look better...maybe an updated video card is due soon, as well as more RAM).
Memory has VERY little impact on the performance of a video card. If you've got enough, Wich 256mb is for all newer games other than a few select games on all extreme highs, it's the clocks, pixel pipelines, shaders, ram TYPE (ddr, GDDR2/3) that makes the difference. 128 mb to 256 mb in HL2? 6 fps difference. 256 mb to 512 mb? 2 FPS difference. (Personal experience, folks) Memory means little
