I resently bourght a GF6800 with 512mb Ram.. its pretty cheap BUT the 512 really packs a punch.. so if you are poor, like me, thats a good way to go..

and I CAN run with the highest possible settings + 4x AA totally smooth, but I have most settings on medium due to loading times..

AGP video cards are older, if your computer is old then you will most likely have one.
To check, press start -> run and type in dxdiag. Click on display and there it will show the name/approx memory of your card and the chip type (AGP or PCI).

I just went to newegg and bought a new mother board a 512 6800gt and 2 gigs of ram. I would recomend you find out what the capabilitys of your motherboard are then decide what to do from there. You should have atleast 1 gig of RAM too because that will help loading times and will let you run and higher settings. What video card do you have now?

well if you dad is willing to pony up the dough and your spoiled little fuck get the 7950 gx2... best one one the market but u have to have PCI-E. If you have AGP dont even bother... get a new MB with PCI-E slots (preferably 2 of them) then buy a new card.

OK Dude, here is the easiest way to find out what card you have and how to get a new one at one of the price points....  And I promise not to give you the BIO on what I run the game on...

First if your computer currently runs BF2 then I am willing to bet that your machine has either an AGP card or a PCI-express one.

The way to find out is best done as described above by "-[Silver.Inc*" and press start -> run and type in dxdiag

There you will see the line chip type:
ATi Radion 7900 AGP or something of the sort.

The AGP or PCI is what you are looking for.

Now to get a new one go visit NewEgg.com   You could find it cheaper but they have cheep shipping and they are very helpful and understanding if you have any issues.  And you will get what you order...

There is allot of information to take in about video cards, but you need to answer 2 simple questions and stick to a couple of rules.

First question, What can you spend?  there are three basic price points for video cards.  ~250, ~350, ~500 and that holds true mostly for the PCI and the AGP cards.  Pick your price range, choose your weapon (ATi or NVidia) and off you go.

Second question, What company do you get your ATi or Nvidia card from?  Check out Tomshardware.com  They always have awesome comparison information about the cards and performance information on all the games.  Find out what reseller you want.  BFG, Asus and EVGA have never let me down and are usually loved by the people at Toms.

That is the best I can tell you with out really getting into to much information.

Good luck, and send me some e-mail if you have any questions.

Got an NVidia 6800GT 256MB AGP and 2 GB of RAM.  Run everything on high...4x AA and it's smooth like butter.

Going to try the UltraHigh setting hack on my video.con file and see if it can handle that.

To the guy with the 7900 having issues...that's hard to believe.  Is the 7900 only PCIe?  If for some odd reason it is AGP, try searching for the thread on increasing the AGP aperture in your systems BIOS.  After the 1.12 patch or whatever, that made all the difference in the world for me.

The method silver uses may not work for everyone (it didn't for me)

No offense to silver, it should work for most of you and it's the least invasive to your system.

Anyway, if that method doesn't work you can download and install "Sandra Lite 2007" by sisoftware. Talk to your dad about it first. You don't want to get him mad and not buy you a new card. Tell him *why* also. He may know what type of slot you have already.

http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html?di … =en&a=

You can do all sorts of system diagnostics with it. It should also tell you what type of videocard you have (AGP or PCI).

To buy the video card I recommend at least an Nvidia 6800 with at least 256 MB of ram (I'm a fan of Nvidia, but ATI cards are also good). A 7900 would be nice but it's expensive. Once you find out what type of slot you have I'd recommend reposting that and mentioning what your budget is. Once we have that info I think we can give you some good feedback.

Lastly, when you do order just use Newegg. The same stuff can often be found at a "killer deal" on some other website. However you only have to get burned once on one of those and you'll have lost any savings (I've seen it happen time and time again).

P.S. Do you happen to own a generic Dell? If you do post your "Service Tag" and we can find out the info about your system. The service tag sticker should be located somewhere on the exterior of your case (only if it's a dell).
