I knew there was stats when I was using BF2tracker.com to find buddies online. But I didn't botherwith them until Gunnery Sergeant, which is why I'm Master Sergeant instead of First Sergeant.
PC gamer magazine. They where talking about it. I'd say 4 to 6 month before release of BF2.

I knew about 5 months before the game was released. Becuase there are only 3 game series I pay attention to(Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Battlefield) I usualy know all the features of the game before I buy it.
