whats that? lol
driver kill assists and the like, i believe.
no one really seems to know... but most people say that its when you're driving and someone in your vehicle repairs or heals or resupplies, but i've seen a guy get one by going off a jump.
i've been going for the crew service ribbon for a while now, and a guy told me that by the time you manage to get 13 driver kill assists you'll probably get the point without knowing.

i c
how did you "see a guy get one by going off a jump?????" unlike other points in this game there is no alert or text saying - you got a driver special ability point - so my point is A) how would HE even know he got it for going off that jump, and B) how the heck would you?

you get an alert if you get a driver special ability point. whenever i get one it seems to come at the most random times
driver special ability assist point is when someone heals, repairs, or resupplies anyone in the vehicle you're in. when it happens you (as the driver) are notified. you can't get this by going off a jump. most likely one of his passengers healed another passenger enough to pass his 100% heal quota to get a healing point, thereby giving the driver a 'special ability assist' point. the driver always gets bonus points when his passengers do cool stuff like heal or kill people (although everyone gets the kill damage assist, which for the driver is not considered a driver special ability assist)
I've been awarded driver kill assists, which I am assuming are special ability points, but I've never been awarded a "driver repair assist" or "driver heal assist," which is why I was under the impression there were no alerts.
it just says
you have been awarded a driver special ability point!
you have been awarded a driver special ability point!
You get them by driving or flying troops around and avoiding fire and such I believe.
The correct term is "Driver Ability Assist" and like someone said earlier you get them from passengers doin' their thang by healing, repairing, or resupplying players. I'm not sure if the player being healed, repaired etc. can be in the vehicle with you or not.
I found that one of the easiest ways to get these points is to fly in a blackhawk repairing commander equipment particularly on Gulf of Oman since the US arty is so close to the coast. Or on Mashtuur City you can have fattys throw ammo bags down on your troops. Another good way to get the points is to have passengers in an armored vehicle, be it apc or tank, and stick with another armor or stay around a large group of infantry. The armor idea works best on Karkand, just keep your vehicle on one of those main roads at the entrance of the city. I've gotten 10+ of these points by doing this.

DRIVER KILL ASSISTS ARE NOT SPECIAL ABILITY POINTS.dshak wrote:

And yes, it is when someone in your vehicle (you are the pilot) gets healed, resupplied or in the case of engineer, gets a repair point.
You dun get it by avoiding enemy fire.
//EDIT
driver ability points are any kind of points u get for other ppl doing things aboard,
i got pts for:
- co-pilot resupplied teammate
- co-pilot healed teammate
- co-pilot fixed something (i.e. uav, bridges, vehicles)
- co-pilot killed someone, except roadkills (now u will ask, how could a co pilot do road kills, while u r driving, i.e. he shots a vehicle, which crashes on someone i.e. playerxyz [eliminated] playerabc / playerabc [AH-12] playerxyz while flying a M-28)
it doesn't matter what u use a chopper, or a humvee. both are vehicles

My experience too, driving a jeep and getting shot at by armor and you evade it, then you get these spec ability points.section9 wrote:

Interesting.
I'm trying for my medal of valor, and one of the requirements is 5,000 special ability points. I've noticed that, according to my stats, I can get about 200 a day. I'm positive that I'm not capable of getting 200 driver ability assists in one day, which leads me to believe that it includes driver kill assists.

This is how I get my Driver Special Ability. Commandeer a tank and engage an enemy tank or whatever enemy vehicle that could destroy you, try to avoid their shots as much as you can and destroy them by shooting back. It takes a lot of practice but its easy once you get the hang of it.
but how can it include kill assists, if kill assists are counted as a separate part of the requirement?divided wrote:

Crew Service Ribbon Requirements: wrote:
IAR: 1 Driver Special Ability Point

The easiest and fastest way of gaining Driver Special Ability (DSA from now on) points is to pilot a blackhawk or the shoebox transport helicopter. Use the medic or support kit to get your own points, have a couple of engineers in the back repairing. A medic and support kit as the gunners. The passengers can chuck grenades, the support will resupply them giving you some good DSA points. When your teammates or you are hurt, the medic will get their healing points, giving you more DSA points, and of course the engineers will be gaining repair points (and giving you DSA points in the process) for repairing your shot up transport chopper.
I do think that there is another way of getting a driver point. Maybe just transporting people around and dropping them off gives you some too?

It looks like this when you get it:
yeah, now that you posted that I have actually seen that message from time to time... but as stated above I've gotten that at some of the most random times you could imagine, action or not.
Glad to be of service
