With the release of Windows Vista Beta 2 and the luxury of being able to download it for free, a lot of people have done so [myself being one of them] but this poses problems as it is only in beta stages it is not fully compatible with BF2, so after many hours of searching and begging people I thought I would share what I have found out so you guys dont have to search
1. Don't have lots of windows running in the background while patching, yes my rig sucks but it completely crashed twice while having IE etc open in the background and it was patching so go get a cup of tea and watch tele, masturbate.. whatever you like to do in your spare time.
2. If you leave BF as it is when its installed and try and play multiplayer you wil get kicked, you need to right click on the icon on the desktop, select compatibility on the tabs available and tick the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox. Then it should work dandy.
3. Now, your in the game wahoooooooo well... not exactly cos you will almost definately get raelly really raelly bad lagg, this is usually to do with you not having downloaded the right drivers for your hardware [ATI and nVidia have released Vista drivers so check out their sites for the downloads] but I had all my drivers up to date. What seemed to help me was again going to the compatibility mode tab on properties for BF2 and setting it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP (service pack 2).
Hope this helps you guys get your BF back up and running on Vista which is raelly good by the wya lol!
