yep, havnt played in aaaaaaggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeesssssssss
Meh, k/d ratio doesnt prove anything.... Tahadar has a k/d of 4 or something and I was playing with him yesterday [he's a really kool guy btw] and he got 6/8 so I don't think stats are anything to go by mainly cos mine are shit admittedly

The kit doesnt mean a thing, but the k:d ratio for the sniper rifle does....ODUsniper wrote:
Their has been lots of talk among snipers recently, but i notice most people don't have above a 2.0 or 2.5 KDR with the sniper kit. Who all among BF2s snipers have better than 2.5 KDR as a sniper??
Kit: 2.43 k:d ratio
Sniper Rifle: 2.12 k:d ratio
fairly good, imo.

I've been slowly working my rifle K/D from around .81 up to and over 1. But progress has been slow as I've been using the other kits to get the 100 hours.
For a while I lost faith in the rifle, the Netcode often drove me insane after planting two consecutive headshots only for a cloud of smoke to appear and the the guy run off. But lately I've beein using the kit more because I love to snipe

K/D with the kit: 4.9738 (25,993 kills vs. 5224 deaths)

Sniper 2.7004
Sniper Rifles 3.0914
was like 2.9/3.5 before i become aggressive CQC semi-auto sniper.

so you started a new account so you could have a better kill death ratio... then started a thread to prove how great you are...
big ups to you...

it was bloody wake island! only played there cos i wanted to say hi to SS. usually play city maps (no J-10s in sight). safe to say, 6 for 8 is a rather rare sight on those mapsEntertaineR_06 wrote:

KDR is relative to the type and style of play, as well as the map you're playing.
If you're an aggressive, squad support sniper, you're more likely to die if the squad is without a decent medic (or dead). All because you're closer to the heat.
If you're a long-range sniper, you're more likely gonna be far enough from the major killers in the game: armor and infantry groups. However, you're very likely gonna be a hater of artillery before long (as it will probably be your main killer). Oddly enough, I'd think snipers would be a problem at long distances, but if you're at full health, a single headshot kill is gonna be a rarer occurance with all but the more experienced long-distance shooters.
Honestly, on maps like Karkand, it's very difficult to get over a 2:1 KDR without keeping away from the action (and thus, falling into the often thought of "useless" sniper category). However, on maps like Wake, a good sniper often has little trouble of ever falling below a 2:1 KDR (heck, I've gone 20-30:0-3 many times).
It should also be noteworthy that snipers on these very two different type maps tend to also have different accuracy levels. On maps like Wake, I've noted many a long-range shooter who'll fall below the about average 50% accuracy, while the snipers on maps like Karkand tend to range above the 50% accuracy average.
And as has been noted already, this doesn't all include the "quasi-padding" option of vehicle kills while a sniper, or swapping to a alternative weapon choice to avoid deaths with the sniper rifle in hand (something I have a problem getting around . I just like spotting out enemies too much).
With a final note, then there are just those people who are MASTERS* with the sniper kit, but they're few and far between with the million or so world-wide Bf2 accounts out there.
P.S. I also forgot to mention the radical differences in those who spend most of their time as a sniper vs. other kits, as well as those people who've decided to start a second account once they've learned the ins and outs of the game.
* For examples: Tahadar is a fine example, because of the large amount of time he's spent on Karkand/Sharqi/Mastuur, and BOOKS' ability to maintain a very high KDR in comparison to his MANY hours as a sniper.
EDIT: Added the "P.S."

Just because you scrape over the 2.5 means that people that haven't are shit???? My stats don't reflect my real time k/d ratio, I would say that i am averaging 4-5 k/d ratio with the sniper rifle at the mo.ODUsniper wrote:

Popped on for a bit myself yesterday, had already been playing sniper a large chunk of the day so decided to play as AT for a while. I equalled up the score with ss so I was happy to try something different for a while. (score's 5-5 now)tahadar wrote:

Problem with wake is if you have two teams of equal skills then the pla are going to win everytime, if however you have a good team (usmc) and a crap team (pla) then you can win as usmc on wake.
Whenever I was usmc yesterday the majority of the team were having barbeques and drag racing on the usmc carrier.
Although for a laugh I managed to kamikazee a Z-10 (with a boat) who thought he could blow me away. I got two kills for his one.
Oh, ratios...
Sniper kit: 2.84
Sniper rifle: 3.28

I guess it depends strongly on which maps you play.
If you only play your special map where you know all the spots you can always pwn the house.Just like the nadespammers on Karkand.
My ratio at the moment is:
sniper rifle 2.42 (and rising)
kit 2.27 (I just had to claymore my way to the expert explosives)
And that's from playing on all maps.
Sure,if I would specialize on one map and only play this map with an usual ratio of 20-25/0-3(Mashtuur for example) I could inflate my K/D-ratio.
But the fun for me is the variety of the maps,Wake Island is a great sniping map....but just not all the time.

ha ha, that was amusing... its my "mobile sniper camp" like a tent but it moves! wow!tahadar wrote:

3.45 with the rifle i want 4 , 17, 000+ kills
bf2 tracker says over the past 30 days my k/d is over 4 so it's gunna take a long time

Ok, lets try this for size.
Who has a K/D ratio above 2.5 and has actually played on Gulf of oman, Dragon Valley, FuShe Pass, Dalian Plant, Daqing Oilfields, Zatar Wetlands or Songhua Stalemate.
Anyone?
