It's got a reputation for being a hot card, I believe it.  That heatsink is hot to the touch all the time.  2/8 RAM of it's RAM chips are already covered by the main heatsink, this one is kinda cheap and 15/16 people gave it 5 stars, the only person that didn't give it five gave it 4 stars.  So what do you guys think?

more cooling can never hurt.

Will these heatsinks actually fit? They are made for main-RAM and not VGA-RAM. Still might fit though.

The link is dead. Personally, I would look to get a new card. The 9600 is pretty old, you'd be better saving for a new one. However, if you can't get a new card, something that will marginally increase the preformance of your old card seems like a good idea.

I'm not stacked with cash, I wish everyone would stop assuming that.

This comp can't really handle much upwards of the Radeon 9600.  All of the 512MB cards for AGP use the power supply, mine is too small and old to handle such things.  Unless maybe......

I'm not assuming that, which is why I said if you can't get one go for the heatsink.

The RAM on the 9600 is fairly spaced out and many of the people that bought them used them for their graphics card.  The RAM chips on my RAM sticks are exactly the same size as the ones on my video card so there shouldn't be too many problems.  They're very handy, they allow further overclocking for a lot of things as some people said.  You can put them ANYWHERE on your computer that heats up a lot.

The RAM on cards doesn't need cooling really, it's more for show.

The 9700 and 9800 (not so much the 9600) cards need better GPU cooling. The Arctic Cooling "ATi 1" Silencer is a good choice IMO.

You should look on coolerguys or SVC.  I've seen ramsinks for under $2 before.

Thanks for that.  Those are pretty damn good sites.  +1

They're even cheaper than NewEgg for some things.

All three of them are pretty hot from what i've heard, sometimes the heatsink on the 9600 is too hot to even touch after a couple of hours.

Decided i'll spend the extra buck on SVC.com so I can get the copper ones, NewEgg charges 8$ for the copper ones, while SVC only needs 6$ for the copper ones.
