So I'm playing AF, Operation Harvest, as MEC.  No one wants in the Mi-28.  What the hell, my SL jumps in so I jump in the guner seat.  I've gunned/flown a bit but not all that much and certainly not all that great with the tv.

Well, I'm hit and miss with the tv and was feeling kinda bad about it.  Even on the target practice, I was redirecting a bit too low and hitting the ground in front of the target.  Well, we end up in a chopper vs. chopper battle with the Cobra and I managed to tv it

I still need lots of practice so I'll probably end up spending some time in SP to try and improve things but I at least had one of those really great moments in combat   Yeah, not much but I never claimed to be a great gunner.  I've gotta take pleasures in the little things sometimes.

If you want a couple tips (not that I'm the best or anything)... first, make sure your target is in the white box before shooting (unless the target is really far away, then you have some slack. And the other is (if you didn't know already) you can keep clicking while the missle is in the air to turn it sharper. These are no brainers to most but some people still don't know.
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it

It took reading on the forums to realize I could control it with the mouse and more reading to realize that I had to keep clicking to control it.  I may consider going to the sniper mouse settings when on tv, that way I can make small adjustments easier.

niomosy, yeah tv can be harder sometimes than it seems, then you think: how in the world could I miss such a big tank. Just some practice will do it.

Also low pings! I sometimes have MAJOR lag with tv missiles (only with them) and then it's so hard to redirect it, once you see him flying you are already 150 feet away.

If you have no lag, it's easier, try to redirect in the beginning, it's much harder to make little adjustments in the end as in the beginning, and ofcourse practice. Oh and as gunner, the mec chopper is the best, that gun cannon has a lot of splash damage!

And anticipate, if a heli is flying to the left, or a tank is driving to the left, shoot more to the left so it is going you don't have to click 200 times to get it to keep the tank in your screen

Not only does the mec chopter have the most splash it can also kill the gunner in a cobra if you keep shooting at the cokcpit so other pilot w/o a gunner =dead and sometimes they don't even notice he is gone. Oh and about the mouse settings i have mine at high. Id rather learn to use it fast over trying to get my mouse to move when it can't on slow. Either way I mostly in p-ussy chopter i mean helichopter =p its fun.

I mostly use the MEC chopper coincidentally.  The gun on the Mi-28 is definitely impressive and great for racking up infantry kills.  I'll have to try shotting the gunner next time.

Did some SP last night on Zatar and I seem to be slowly getting a better comfort level with the tv.  One thing I've noticed is that there's sometimes a delay in the tv firing.  I'll click, an X will be placed where I clicked and.... pause... fire.  Other times I'll click and it won't do a thing.  I'll have to play around with that some more.

Trying to get off some more interesting shots now to see if I can do them.  Smaller targets like the little buggies and commander assets.  It's pretty cool trying to take out the US satellite on SP Zatar since I know where it is but there's a tree blocking visual confirmation.  Tv'ing into the shed with the tank at the USMC base is also fun.

The other thing I'm noticing is the need for a better chopper keyboard layout.  I always hit F9 when in a chopper but when switching from tv back, it always puts me in the standard view and I've got to reach my hand over to hit F9 again.  I'll have to map the camera view to a more accessible key.

I'll have to go through the chopper guides a bit better now that I've got a better understanding of things and see what else I can learn.  Thanks for your help all

People always say you need to line the object up with the box to begin with but they are completely wrong.  Its only has to be in your field of view.  All you have to do is use your cross hairs and put it on the object no matter where it is on you screen and fire.  Once you fire it will automatically redirect your screen to being centered on the box (if it wasn't near center when you went to fire).   Once it is in flight make minor adjustments as the object moves.

I also helps to have a good system.  Befoe when i ran Bf2 at all low settings on my old Geforce 5500 i could not to TV missles at all because it would be to laggy in the tv screen.  Now that i have my geforce 7800 its like your cutting butter with a warm knife.  Last night i shot down 3 cobras out of the sky and 1 black hawk all in one sitting in the helo.

Once you understand how the TV missles work you can hit anything.  GL hope i helped

I was watching a video of a guy doing some very slick solo chopper whoring.  The guy was definitely tv'ing when he didn't even have a target in sight but knew where it was.  He'd just guide the missile there.  Pretty impressive stuff.

Thus, I'm trying to practice some oddball shots in SP.  The problem is mostly that the bots can't pilot for crap.  I might see if my buddy wants to join a co-op game so we can have some chopper fun.
