Ok basically I'm a noob with comps and all that (compared to you guys) and so I need help to decide when to build a comp and with what parts. From what I heard, DDR3 RAM, Windows Vista, DX10 graphics cards, and the new Intel processor are comming out next year (except for the processor). What I'm basically asking is, should I wait to build a new comp next year with this stuff comming out or build one now with the stuff currently availible? Also if I buy all this new crap comming out how much will it cost approx.? (I want a rig to be able to run Crysis on max if possible)
i say wait till conroe and DX10 stuff comes out because you want to play Crysis on high. For cost, well if the x1900 is like 500-600 i can assume the DX 10 cards might be 400-700 probably who knows, and conroe is gonna be pretty cheap. like 200 i think for a mid end conroe which can go against a fx60
If you want to run vista and DX10 games then waiting is what we're all doing.
It always seems like a wise idea to wait while purchasing a PC so you can get the new stuff when it comes out. I'm sure by the time those are out they'll be some fancy, new thing on the horizon for you to wait for. I'd say that it really depends on whether you want something first, or you can wait to get it for cheaper. Also consider how much money you'll be planning to spend. You know how expensive new stuff can be as soon as it comes out.
On this issue in particular, I'd say to wait a while if you want to run Crysis on max, but I'm not sure because I don't know how much money you're willing to spend on this.

I would say maybe $2500 on the tower.
