I have the opposite "problem". I find snipipng on 64 and 32 player servers a lot easier whereas i struggle more on 16 player ones. More targets I guess...Beer_Ranger wrote:
Eh, I mainly play 64 player servers, which isnt conductive to staying alive. I know itd be above a 2 if i stuck with 32 player or less tho.

Nice Explanation dude. +1 for ya. I feel the same way. I have a 1.4 or 1.3 KDR and I am just fine and enjoy the game.Twist wrote:
Agreed. However, one needs to ALSO consider the fact that the REASON why most people dont' have 2-2.5 KDR with sniper kit or rifle is usually a couple of things:LOLtacular wrote:
Sniper KDR is pretty easy to increase once one masteres the SVD/Type88, as you can play in a style similar to Assault with the added ability of being able to protect your flanks and fight distant targets far better than you can with Assault Rifles, albeight a pro-Carbine user is difficult to take down.
1) It's EASY to get spotted by the enemy commander, and on maps with a helo/jet overhead, you're a choice target if you're not moving.
2) Many people attempt to use the sniper to get their explosive badges. This tends to mean that they need to get into close combat, or at least within spawn raping distance. It's DANGEROUS to go that close, even with a type 88.
3) Most snipers dont want to settle for 5-6 kills in a round, so they move a LOT closer to the action than they really need to.
4) Majority of players do NOT have a rig that can give them 100% view distance. And if you dont have that, then as a sniper you're much more likely to get pwned by a carbine user.
5) EVERYONE can't have a positive KDR, somone needs to die more so others can get their higher KDR
In general when I look at the list of "snipers", ie: people with high accuracy, I notice that they've all not played that many hours, or they dont have a very high KDR. Then again, almost EVERYONE doesn't have a huge KDR. I "only" have around a 1.5 KDR, and I'm like #30.000 on the global rankings for KDR, so I take that to mean that a LOT of the community gets pwned once in a while, I know I do.

Yeah, but it's possible, and not mostly luck how some people say...your accuracy might suffer a bit at first but without leading targets it's hard to get any kills with the sniper rifle on some maps(Zatar Wetlands, for example, you gotta lead targets there.).The same goes for cockpit-hits with the M95,if you can't predict the flight time of your bullet there's no way to kill a chopperpilot, your only chance would be when he's on the helipad.EntertaineR_06 wrote:

Take out Gulf of Oman though. Plenty of sniping spots with good chances of high sniper rifle KDR..:XDR:.PureFodder wrote:
Ok, lets try this for size.
Who has a K/D ratio above 2.5 and has actually played on Gulf of oman, Dragon Valley, FuShe Pass, Dalian Plant, Daqing Oilfields, Zatar Wetlands or Songhua Stalemate.
Anyone?
I tend to get more 1-shot kills from those running toward me at about a 45 degree angle, when I aim for the chest.EntertaineR_06 wrote:
When running towards/away from you those shots are relatively easy but when running parallel then it begins to get hard, I think I have one or 2 of them lol

I've got that too...but it's not harder to get than the normal expert sniper, some people just don't appreciate the awesome maps SF has to offer.The_Guardsman wrote:
Also l'm 1 of about 1300, that have the Expert sniper specialist...... Ethier shows how hard it is to get (Yea right!) or how many people bought the expansion lol!!
Again, I do, and I've grown to enjoy sniping on most of them (though Daqing, Songhua, and Zatar can often be slow, low-yield maps if you're trying to maintain a high K/D ration)..:XDR:.PureFodder wrote:

SF does have good maps, but the thing that really grinds my turtle is the fact that I can't use my second tier of unlocks like the L96, it not only gets my goat but it also shaves him too.Mj.Blindfisch wrote:

You guys can only play with the L96,right?EvilMonkeySlayer wrote:

That said, I do like the rpg for the insurgents.

Before 1.3 I was playing a lot of SF to get all my service ribbons, and because you can only choose between M24/SVD or M95 I really learned to appreciate the SVD,especially on night maps.
I think that if somebody would specialize on the SVD it's even deadlier than the bolt action rifles, only drawback is the zoom.
The L96 is a fine weapon. Out of all the sniper rifles, I definitely think it's my favorite (especially the shot report!). However, like you and The_Guardsman, I too have the Expert Sniper Specialist, and I did it with the M95 on Warlord. You're right that it's no harder in difficulty than the vanilla expert sniper to obtain. However, SF maps are often harder for most snipers, because of the close to medium range urban environments on most of the maps. I had an advantage more than most, because of the considerable (I think too much) time spent sniping on Karkand.Mj.Blindfisch wrote:

You're kidding, right ? The Zoom is only like 25% lower than the M24. To make up for that you get to fire all 10 of of your shots before the nemey sniper has finished reloading (assuming you know how to handle the recoil that is). On the more popular maps like Sharqi, Mashutur and Karkand, This is a HUGE advantage, I ALWAYS pick up a MEC sniper rifle if I see one laying around and I'm playing US. The ONLY reasons for choosing the M24 over the SVD are if you're playing on maps with little/no fog (Dalian, Wake etc.), or you dont have the hardware to play the game in high-res. Well, I suppose this is also a good way to get your pistol badge (I know that's how I did), just go for the M24, aim for the legs, and finish your target with the pistol. If he goes prone you get a HS, if not, you get a pistol kill.Mj.Blindfisch wrote:
