This thread is gonna be about a few things first off, for those of you who think ur lacking in the skills department, or feel ur not playing at ur potential....that could very well be.Okay lemme explain, I just received my new pc today, I hooked it up after the updates, and virus programs etc were installed I immediately installed bf2.

I then joined a game, and I couldnt believe what a difference hardware can make. All this time of straining to see targets in the distance, or crashing into a tree....those days are long gone I was able to hit targets with the jet that never would have been possible, that goes for the sniper rifle as well.

I mean yea everything Ive written here is common sense, old news yada yada, but unless u take the iniative to see for yourself, you wold never know what your missing out on.

* Also for those of you debating an nvidia 7600gt, its awesome card, worth every penny.*

In short, UPGRADE do it, do it now!!!

i couldnt agree more. I upgreaded form a Intel 3.2 (northwood), 1 gig ram, geforce FX5200, etc. to a opty 170 @ 2.7 GHz, 2 gigs of RAM, x1900xt, etc. and i was shocked at the difference. I can now see suff so much better because at far ranges people would only be like 4 pixels high (i was playing at 800x600). My gaming has much improved since the upgrade
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

OK, what do you guys think:

I'm on an Athlon64 3400+, 1.5GB RAM, and an X800XT.  Yet to get anything done, I'm running in 1024x768 with all graphics options on LOW (except for draw distance).

Would you performance gurus recommend:
a) CPU upgrade?
b) Video card upgrade?
c) Both?

All I know is, when I do upgrade to a new CPU/mobo, I'm going liquid-cooled

Probably video card and up it to 2GB of ram.

I personally found the best thing when I bought new parts and built my own machine was a new mouse.
A laser mouse like the Logitech G5 (i'm not a shill, really) prob gave the most difference in my play.

Absolutely 2gb ram is perfect, and a video of your choice,

Nvidia 7 series 7600 or higher run very well

Ati...Im not to knowledgable, i believe there x1800, and x1900 series are good.

i run p4 3.4, 2 gig ram with x800xt and i can run 1280x1040 with everything on high, 2xAA, but with lighting on low no problem.

I'de definatly suggest you get more ram before you get a new card.
