Honestly, i click all over the screen, and the only thing that happens is.. nothing.  it goes straight until it hits something.  sometimes when i go to fire the TV missle, it goes all crazy, moving left and then right and down into the ground right away.  you get the picture.

am i doing something wrong?  is this a common problem that can be fixed?

Check controls as well, mouse sensitivity too high perhaps?

I don't mean to sound like I'm talking to you like you're totally unaware of things but, sometimes it's the simplest mistakes that people forget to check for first.

Any chance that a setting for your fire is messed up? I've had problems with keys being mapped wrong before and it took a good long while before I looked at the most obvious reasons I could be having problems, and I figuratively kicked myself in the face.

hmm, never thought of a missing file.

No, im not sucking ass lol.  the missle SHOULD move when i click the screen, yes?  well, i click, and i click, and i click... and click some more, and the missle keeps going in a straight line.

i was just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

1. Go on an empty server as commander

2. Set the chopper somewhere and give yourself crates

3. PRACTICE, TV missiles require a lot of skill to use correctly.

Last I checked, Mouse 1 has to be set for vehicle primary fire to be able to guide TVMs.  I had the same problem since I use mouse2 as primary fire and mouse1 alt.

Thank you for bringing that up, clarifies my explanation a bit more as I failed to include which key map to look at. =P It's late, gimme a break!

OMG that helps alot.  thank you!  i'm left handed, and i play with the mouse on the left side of the keyboard, and yes, i have mouse 2 as my primary fire.  i'm going to check to see if it works.

Adjust your latency settings to match your ping. And only click a few times, very rarely will you need to click alot.

YESSS!!  see, whenever i clicked on the screen, i never got that little "X" that showed where you clicked.  now, that i chanegd around the primary fire and alt fire buttons from mouse 2 and 1 to mouse 1 and 2, now it works!!  woohoo!  oddly enough, the gunner  position in the helicopter is NOT set by the
"helicopter" controls tab in options, but they are set by the LAND VEHICLE setting in the option tab.

Nothing to do with bf2 being 1 year old? Having said that, 90% of my gunners are comparable to that of an eagle and of a half eaten, retarded, 1 eyed gingerbreadman.

That's the best advice you can get.  TV missiling is not as easy as some people make it look.  I've seen some of Vengence's videos and I can honestly say that he's one of the best chopper gunner's I've seen.  AfroJap, Mailman, and Skruples are also all extremely good chopper pilots and gunners.  Ask any one of them how they got to be where they are and they'll all tell you to practice.
