To get expert you need 40 kills as engineer to get expert engineer, so if i go out and try to get all my knife badges and play as engineer and knife 40 guys do i get the medal:::?? or do i need to use the kit's primary gun?

You need to get 40 kills, however you can, playing as the kit. That means 40 kills from chopper, jet, armor, however you can come by 40 kills. Just make sure you spawn with the right kit
