you will no longer be a noob when you:

1) become familiar with all the maps.
2) figure out how to aim and shoot properly
3) you see that your k/d ratio and spm starts to gradually improve

I agree that a noob is in the eye of the beholder, I am a corporal and am still newbish at some things (flying especially) but so are a lot of other people that have way more time into it than I. (i have a whopping 36 hours)

I saw a Gunnery Sergeant teammate the other day blow up our UAV trailer. I said "WTF are you doing" He said "Oh SHit, the server switched my team" I called him a noob, he said STFU. I said he should re-spawn as an engineer to repair it. He said STFU once again. I had to re-spawn as a engineer to repair it.

So noobs come in all shapes and sizes, and ranks.

Lol.

Some people will always call other people noobs simply because they are better players. IF you manage to master the grenade launcher like a GOD and you fucking own everything with it, you will always get called a noob for using it because others have no chance and think it's lame and easy and nooby and what else. Same with Aviators, there will always be persons that call you U JET WHORE and J-10 N00B because they are getting owned by you.

So don't let anybody else judge about your skills / noobness. This decision is up to you, either you think "well, I could need some more training because I am not so good here on this server" or "Yeah I think I finally got out of the noob-time, now I can actually play that game".

Sounds right to me, for me it was when I got around 8k or so points.

the term noob has lost all meaning of what it used to mean, therefore a cliché.

you are called a noob based on actions, what others think of your actions.

for example, you are called a `noob` when, indeed, you are actually a higher rank than them.

Yeah, right around when you become a Gunny Sgt is when you no longer are a noob. Anything above 1st Lt is usually as bad as buck privates, IMO, since most of them are assholes.

I have had good encounters with a Major and 4 star General, though, so they're not all bad.

I don't believe someone's stats make them a n00b, as in the origional post. It is, however, their actions. If you play fairly and honestly, you understand how the game should be played. Therefore, you are not a n00b! If you exploit, taunt, bunnyhopp, etc. you are a n00b because you fail to recognize what the game was designed to be and give into the little voice in your head that tells you you aren't masculine enough.

Thats how I make the distinction between the two.

When I started playing BF2, I thought the artillery was like the Pak 75s in BF1942 Secret Weapons and I kept trying to get in.

I suspect this is one of those things where if you have to ask, you still qualify. I'm sure I still do, no biggie.

in my opinion when your first sargeant you are no longer a noob..i mean everybody is gunnery sargeant(like me)...but you actually have to play a while to get first sargeant so when your first sargeant your middle class...at least you wont be a noob probably captain is when your upper middle class then anything up is pretty skilled

When you find out, after 50 hours of BF2, that you use caps to enter the commander screen rather than using T everywhere (wich is why I was always commnanding in a black hawk in the demo)

I don't like commanding anyway (see stats)

If you respect people for who they are, then surely you'd respect someone who spends his time doing that?

Sgt.Major = mostly skilled

eh, I found that "noob" falls under allot of categories other than the gaming realm.
"noob" all of a sudden means "asshole... etc". The word is missused all the time as some people use it when they are pissed at someone for whatever reason!

Yeah I was raping the airfield on Oman in a server that allowed it and was called a noob. After I let them in the air a few times I still shot them down one-manning my choper. Then when they had all the flags and were raping the ship we all went inland, took the flags, and I shot down thier chopper twice with my tank when it tried to TV me, all of a sudden it went from noob to "you play to much". One excuse after another. I think people just missuse the word when they get mad over a game.
