it was doing my fucking head in big time.

i was going to mutiny, but for some reason the mutiny button wasn't there (whats up with that?)

if your commanding, shut the fuck up and get on with your job, DICK HEAD!

agreed there should be a way to mute him anyways i hate when commanders do scans and spot people that are allready under UAV the scan an spot is sposed to be used for lone wolfs or people sneaking around the back

Gah! I KNOW!
You can ask them nicely and they won't do a thing. You can swear at them and they take it as an invitation to double their efforts, you can mutiny against them and as we all know that has no effect.

If someone can think up a solid way to shut them the fuck up I would be forever greatful. They make my ears hurt.

I hate when they constantly spot like that, but I love, especially on wake when you get the awesome commanders that tell you where everything is, like, "blackhawk far out, heading to north village" boom 6 kills for moi

I played a round on karkand a few weeks ago and we had the most annoying commander ever.. we were USMC and as soon as the round began he started spotting the MEC apcs and tank every few seconds, all the way round from the factory.

Didn't matter how many different squad leaders asked him to quiet down and stop spamming the spotted function, he got worse and worse. Then he started on infantry too. Total nightmare.

I'm ashamed to say that after 10 minutes of this I jumped in a humvee and drove back to the gas station with the intention of knifing the son of a bitch.. he was on top of one of the two towers at the front, and I climbed up and stood over him with the knife. I gave him one last chance to shut up or else he was getting stabbed.

Didn't get the chance though.. someone else climbed up the ladder and unloaded the shotgun on him

The game ended up in a complete farce, half the USMC team chasing the commander round the gas station, MEC won easily.

I hate the voice spam but if you hear commander spotting continuously you just know the commander is doing his job. Spotting under UAV is useless though.

I only spot the guys who are not covered by the UAV but who pose a threat to my infantry on the ground.  I see that as obligatory.  I also always spot the armor and the APC each time I scan because I know what it's like to be driving an armor and to all of a sudden have 1/2 hitpoints because their armor knew where I was, but I didn't notice because I was too busy gunning at a squad.  As a tank driver, when I hear "enemy armor spotted" I will shift gears to engage that armor because I know that if I don't, it will do damage.  That is why I always spot the armored vehicles when I'm commander.

anything more than that gets irritating.  That, and my wife wants to strangle me.

When i'm commander I spot a bit, but not that much as nobody goes after them anyway, they all just swarm to the nearest chokepoint.

I had that happen the other day actually.

I found him, C4'ed him, and he never spoke again.

Argh! Just how distracting is it to have that every two seconds???

I have to admit, I used to do it, then I stopped when I was playing on the 1st battalion servers and my PC glitched and everybody was showed as lone wolfing. I couldn't give any squad orders or tell people where to move to so I just kept scanning and spotting. I was driving everybody insane.

Just a tip to all of you out there. Scan... UAV the greatest density of enemies (or a flag if you have someone capturing it)... then spot the fast movers (planes for the uninitiated). After that, just direct your squads to where you can see the enemies heading.

If you are zoomed in and see someone sneaking up on one of your men, then by all means, spot him... once. The more times you spot they guy, the more time your team mate will be looking at the mini-map and getting his head blown off.

And as an aside, commanders... when you have told a squad to go take a flag and they'e inbound, DON'T DROP ARTY ON IT!

Nuff said.

Geez, uh, you look like you're in a little trouble there.

It looks like the Insurgents have sent everything in! Tanks, planes, boats, AA vehicles, the lot! Of course, half of them are on buildings, perched precariously.

Anyway.

Yes they annoy the shit outta me. I usually find that bail-hit-and-run usually works (where you're about to run him over but you bail out at the very last second. He dies, and all anyone knows about it is the sudden silence.

I noticed that too, what's up with the missing mutiny button?! We had an ass-hat for commander that didn't do shit lately...

BTW, I don't mind commanders screaming "enemy infantry/tank spotted" as long it isn't continuously. I usually hide and open the big map to see where ppl are going to try and cap flags. It helps a little to know where the lone wolfs are.

Anybody got an explanation for the missing mutiny button?

Annoying?  Yeah, it can be...

However, it's not nearly as annoying as a commander that doesn't spot out enemies, let alone about 3/4's of the players on your team not doing so either.

I don't know how many times I've been moving from one area to another, seen a group of friendly infantry on the minimap, walk out into the open where all my compadres are sitting, only to get blasted by the enemy tank that not a single person on my team decided to point out.

In an ideal Bf2 world, enemies would be spotted out as often as needed by the team.  However, given that it's not an ideal Bf2 world, I'd much rather "choose the lesser of two evils", and have a commander (let alone, another teammate) spam out where the enemies are located, than not enough.

Remember that this is an internet game, and not everyone is on the same playing level as others (thankfully so   ).  It's cliche, but practice makes perfect, and commanders need to start somewhere.

Well I hate commanders that don't spot anything (or just players) but there is a thing called: Too much! I once had this commander that spotted 3 times every second so you couldn't hear a thing anymore. That's really annoying.

But I agree that a commander should spot forces not under the uav (not on 64 players though and not everyone on the carrier). Knowledge is power in BF2. If you are in a tank and you know where the enemy tank is you will probably be able to make the first shot and win the duel. That's why I hate infantry that never spot a tank or jet. When I'm not commander, I spot tanks, jet's and heli's. So our heli, jet and tank can take on them.
As commander I spot units that try to sneak past the front lines and those close to another member.
Sadly sometimes you spot some guy two hundred times and some just don't notice!

you get pissed at commanders for not spotting. You get pissed when they do spot "once or twice" and someone doesnt pick up the guy at factory, and all your armor is gone. You bitch about to much spotting. wow you guys are a bunch of crying little bitches. At least he's doing his job.. Do yours and kill the guys he's spotting.. if there were no enemies to spot you wouldnt have that problem..

How many times have you had a commander that didnt spot like that but ended up lossing flags, because you had no idea the enemy was there. Only squad leaders can hear the comm over voip, so spotting for everyone helps alot.

I would much rather have a spotting comm then one that doesnt say shit and lets everything get by.. I dont need orders i need to know where the enemy is at all time.. And constant spotting of the armor on the map is extremly helpfull.

yes it can be a bit anoying but tking your commander thats only doing his best is a bitch move. its just as bad as tking for planes or armor. Did you help the team in any way by killing your commander? No you didnt. did the commander help the team by spotting the enemy? Yes he did. the comm can only do a few things and spotting is 85% of his job. and you cry because its annoying? wow your pathetic.

Commanders not spotting are bad commnaders, you should be glad to have a spotting commander. It makes your life on the battle field easier. I hate it when newbies who are not able to use the map/minimap complain about spotting commanders.

If someone gets to annoyed from a spotting commander, just disconnect and search a server with a n00b-o-mander - but don't wonder when you're not aware of the situation on the battlefield and lose game after game.

As for spotting red dots - if you spot enemies and they are still visible from your radarscan, they don't appear on the map - so this spotting is useless. They first have to disappear, then get spotted and only then they're visible on the screen.

1. I don't care about Karma, it's a useless feature of BF2s.
2. Who ever gave it to me, seems like someone was offended and cannot use the minimap and usually only dies on the the battlefield

P.S. Grow up, learn the game, realize that karma means nothing, exactly like BF2 stats
