Simple, no? Well something fucked up, I realize this has been posted before, but I read the topic and got shit for an answer. Every time I try and start up bf2, it goes black and gives this error:

I REALLY don't get it, I've un-installed and installed many times. I don't know wtf's up anyone help?

Looks like a virus, with the (really!) at the end. Probobly not though as what idiot writes a virus for BF2? Maybe just something corrupt on your HD. Clen Install of Windows might sort the problem out (don't blaim me if it doesn't work though)

Actually, something weird happened with my copy of GTA:SA. I bought the game, but when it stopped working suddenly I had to download a crack just to be able to play it. I uninstalled and reinstalled so many times, but the game just wouldn't work. I also had to do the whole uninstall/reinstall thing with BF2 where you have to wipe everything from your directory. I can understand why some people hate EA.

edit: BTW I know GTA isn't EA.

Apologies on dragging this up, but I just re-installed SF and I'm getting this same message.

Did anyone ever find a clearcut way of fixing it?

Edit: actually instead of the mesh.fx I get lighting.fx

Hey, I had this same problem a long time ago! It's some kind of virus!! I was unable to play SF bacause of it.
But when they released a new patch, this solved the problem and SF works fine for me ever since
So, try a complete uninstall. Then install it again, DON'T run it, patch it and ONLY THEN try to run it. Hope that helps, man

Installing patch 1.4 solved the problem for me. Try it if you havn't already.
