My dad bought BF2 as a new online game for me and him to play, since we'd both gone off CS:S and Wolfenstein ET. Anyhow, he installed the game on his windows account, and we had no problems - I ran the shortcut from my account, he ran the shortcut from his account.

When we patched to 1.03, I installed the patch to my windows account, thus meaning that upon trying to connect to a server, I am told my CDKey is invalid.

The solution on the EA forums didn't work for me, so we began to play around in the support folder of BF2. We found a little exe that lets you type in your CDKey, then if you do that, click okay, then run the solution program that is on the EA forums, it would run fine. Only thing is, we have to do this every time we want to play, and we can't be bothered to reinstall.

Anyhow, through this repeated typing-in of CDKey, we have both learned the CDKey off by heart. Should I be worried? It strikes me as slightly weird...

You DO NOT have to run any other progs when you run the "Battlefield 2_code.exe" from "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\Support"- folder.
Why should you ?

But you HAVE to run "Battlefield 2_code.exe" if you, for example, change you hardware.
Change your processor and you have to run that. Change your memory and you have to run that.

After running "Battlefield 2_code.exe" just start the game and when it asks "account",  "RETRIEVE" that.
Do not press "ACCEPT" or you will do so every time (as you described..).
You have to RETRIEVE your BF2 account for every "Windows user" account you are going to use for playing.
THA
im a fucking .....well not now

you can only run bf2 from a single windows account,
you will need to use your dads windows account for you to play bf2.
then just retrive your bf2 account once in the game.

Nah you shouldnt be worried. I had that problem too. Just googled but can't remember the site wich it came from.
When you type in your cdkey you don't press accept but run another program. Cant remember what it was.
The solution is out there. Just search it with Google.
