I just want to know if stats really matter all that much. Sure you could have a spm of 4, kill to death ratio that kicks ass and you haven't been killed once in a tank but i think that doesn't matter at all. I personally think the most stricking stat is your win/loss ratio. Sure you could kick ass but unless your team wins you haven't really done anything to help out even though your the greatest player on your team. This leads me to think that a great player is one who helps your team to win and has greater wins to loses than someone with the greatest score on the server on the losing team. What do you guys think?

I dissagree.

Your WLR doenst say much for you as a player - you may have helped win the round, but its not just because of one single player the team wins.

Stats don't make a player. The fun you have whilst playing (aside from bug/lag/tard frustration) is what makes you a player.

It's a mix of things.  Having a high SPM helps since it shows you're actually involved in the action.  However, playing solely as medic and doing nothing but reviving people doesn't really help even though it would give you a high SPM.  Having a high k:d ratio is good since when you kill an enemy, the opposing team loses a ticket, but it doesn't say much for you as a teamplayer.

I'd think a good player would be a person with a SPM of above 2, a k:d above 2, with a good amount of capped flags, heal, repair, and resupply points, and someone who is above average in all aspects of the game.  I don't consider someone who is only an amazing pilot to be a good player if all he/she can do is fly.  Same goes for people who are good in armor, helicopters, or specialize in only one kit.

WLR means nothing. SPM KDR compared to maps played is what makes your stats good. If you're a karkand whore like me your SPM should be atleast 3.5, if you play maps like Fu She Pass not realistic for your SPM to be high.

No, stats don't make a player, they just raise the competitive spirit in some of us and stats are a 'fun' addition to the game..

depends a bit, if you are the only good player on your team, your team will still lose. I hate it when I cap a flag, notice that 10 teammates spawn there, go for the next one, only to notice that the previous flag has been recapped.

But I agree that stat's don't really matter. This was my first online FPS, so I had crappy stats in the beginning (0.48 KDR, 1000 more deaths than kills). And I improved, now my KDR is right above 1, but only cause I had to get those 1000 deaths out first. (And no I will not make a new account). So it's not really the stats that matter, but how the stats evolve and how you improve.

I don't matter my stats anymore (although I would go for a badge/medal from time to time) I rather have fun and some great teamwork, making our team win, than caring about my KDR dropping 0.005

thats its just a bunch of noobish numbers, that hardly mean anything. its just nice to see how your skill increases, and thats the only reason for me to check it from time to time.

and w/l indicates teamswitchery for most people, or not playing while on some teams.

(ps: disconnecting wont prevent scoreloss, or prevent a lose stat)

You do have to read them with care but stats can give some idea of someone's general abilities or skills with a certain weapon, no doubt about it.

N)i(N Herby007 wrote:

Why? That means squat; there are at least two major ways to distort that number.

Obviously some guys out there are practically one-man teams (good J-10 pilots on Wake can virtually dominate the battlefield single-handedly being the classic example these days) but given you can switch to the winning side on some servers if you wanted to, once you see the way the tide is going, you could have a nearly perfect win record if you cared to.

Although I like to win, and I like to help my team win via my efforts, if I do well personally I don't mind losing so much. And you can still get medals even on the losing side, sometimes even all of them, which is nice.

It's not an everyday thing but you can be doing well for nearly the entire round and then lose in the closing stages, sometime even the last moments. Had a few games in the last month on Sharqi like that: way up on tickets but we lose two, three, even four flags really quickly and suddenly you're up to your neck in crap.

W/L is a BS stat. I can recall countless times where Im the only one on my team giving a shit about trying to cap flags and not getting fucked in the ass by grenades at the hotel while my whole team isnt doing CRAP to help. The only way to get a positive W/L ratio is to teamswitch to the winning team every time or just be lucky and end on the winning team. You cant really do crap to help your team because your ONE person and if your team sucks donkey balls your getting another losss even if you tryed to help.

Yeah that late push can be really tough to squash if your not ahead by 50 or more tickets.  It usually happens with 20-40 tickets left, but if your ahead by 100 tickets and it starts early around 80 tickets left you can still be in trouble if you fail to counter attack.   When your up by a significant amount and the round is on the home stretch your team wants to press the advantage for easy kills/pts so every body moves to the front line instead of defending and so a few enemies get past or are already hiding to take your flags.  Thats when AT mines and claymores can have the best defense opportunity.  Even just a couple of defenders can keep the balance from flipping if they know the rush is coming (it usually does).

Of course stats dont make a player, but you can tell how a player plays by his stats. At least to a certin extent. You can also some what judge skill by stats. even though some of you say its B.S.

1. maps.. how many different maps do you play.. its hard to not have alot of time in city maps because servers all play them more then anything else. But if you only play the top 3 karkand, sharqi and mashtur city then no matter what your stats say, to me your stats dont mean shit.. There pretty much padded because your affraid to play against jets.. and im no pilot.. you can say that there "funner" for what ever reason.. does funner mean dying less? or easier for infantry?

2. Infantry to vechicle usage / kills.. if you have 50% or more time or kills in a vechicle of some sort your playing "easy mode". Not that vechicle's are bad or i disslike them.. But this means you pretty much wait around for them instead of helping on foot. It shows fear of infantry.. Fear of dying..

3. infantry weapon kdr. how good are you with infantry weapons.. 2.5 and above great 1.5 good 1.0 average. But the catch to this is time with those weapons.. the longer you use the more realistic the average.

4. accuracy with those weapons.. some of you might think accuracy dont mean shit.. This is true only if your support or now this is the big one, if you die alot.. Accuracy is important to those infantry men that do not die much in battle.. How many times do you NEED supply's.. how many times have you picked up the enemy's kit because you ran completly out of ammo? I cant afford to shot at walls or the sky because every bullet counts if i want to live longer.. i dont want to be in the middle of a reload when the enemy is in site..

5. Flag work.. defend's, assists, captures.. Capping flags in my opinion is the most important thing in the game. Not matter how good you are if there is no where to spawn.. Well there's no where to spawn.. This making you a team player.

6. mastering of a certin skill.. Are you a master at 1 thing and good at the rest? or are you average at everything? Are you great at one thing but suck at the rest? You see alot of great pilots.. being a pilot is 2 things in the game.. flying  and gunnning.. But infantry you need strats with every kit.. you need strats to cap flags.. you need to be able to dodge arty / tanks / apc's or kill them with out them getting you..

7. Play to win or play for global score?

8. Play with them, this is the only true way to tell if someone is good.. Stats only give us an outlook on how someone plays.

To me your KDR / SPM can give you a false outlook on total skill. for instance a pilot can go 100 / 1 in a round but infantry do not have that luxury.. So someones KDR and SPM can pretty much mean the persons only good if in armor in Jet / helo.. But what do they do when they cant get there vechicle? Sit around and wait for it? or go cap flags and kill on foot? If you can do both then your the man..

Well stats in basketball, football or tennis make a player

Oh i forgot, this is the BF2 community. Stats dont tell if a player sucks? WHy should it with all the stat padders out there.  Personally i dont care if i have a crappy K/D ration, Hours and so on.

I started off with a K/D ratio of 0.40 and now i am at 1.20.

Im preety good with most kits. I am learning how to use medic which is really nice. But i am in the top 200 when it comes to spec  ops. THat is a kit that i am very talented with.

Well, if you're #1 and you play in money-prize tournaments, you can win some serious money. You can hire a different prostitute every hour for a week with an average amount of winnings. If you don't mind becoming someone who has every STD known to man.

But who can go around saying you banged 200 different chicks in ONE WEEK?
