Well it's a part of British history too, I don't know how pleased some British will be with the portrayal of the Black and Tans (though my great Granny, who lived to 96 did say they were a mean shower of bastards) but the movie did show how the IRB often struggled with the task of killing young soldiers from Britain as part of the cause. I think its a film British people should watch, especially anyone who has opinions on our turbulent history with each other.buLLet_t00th wrote:
Is it a film that only the Irish will get? (Or care about?)
The Palm D'Or (or 'Golden Palm' in English ...or 'An pailm ór' in Gaeilge!) is the most coveted prize in the film world!Mekstizzle wrote:

I would've understood that better if you said it in Gaelic, even.
Saving Private Ryan could arguably be described itself as a hyper-realist movie. Wind That Shakes The Barley is a traditional realist movie, they're both great though.M.O.A.B wrote:
Never seen the movie you're talking about, nor heard of it for that matter but, Saving Private Ryan > Realistic movies

I'm sorry Ryan but wtf are you on about? If a topic has been discussed before, and someone wants to make a post about that topic, they will naturally find a thread about it, instead of making a brand new one. And reviving old threads (if not overdone) is a benefit to a lot of other people who may not have seen that thread and find it interesting.Ryan wrote:
