So current on my computer I have a Geforce FX 5700. My comp can't run anything better because I have n old Mobo and my power supply is terrible. So I was wondering, is it possible to make my game look decent with this kind of graphics card? My RAM is good, 1 Gig. If anyone can help me out that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Not really...

Sorry to say but your system is pretty dated. While Im sure you will be able to run the game, your are probably gonna haev to put all settings on low so it wont look too pretty.

Maybe its time to upgrade, saev up some cash/bug your parents

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

You should be able to play the game, but I'm not sure how satisfied you will be with the gameplay.  On low settings you will likely experience much lag compared with enemies (which means lots of deaths), and you will have significant lag in places where there are lots of complex geometries (some SF maps will be nearly unplayable).

(My opinion is based on using a 5500 with 1.5 gig of Ram ... I've upgraded to the 6000 series and it resulted in a HUGE improvement).

By the way, most would say that BF2 runs much better on 1.5-2 Gig of Ram.

I've got two gigs of RAM, a 3Ghz, and a 5700, and I have to play everything on low with a few mediums. On small maps I can get away with everything on medium, but I can't use AA at all or it dies.

I'd suggest you save up a little and upgrade your computer, but it can be really expensive. You can probably get a FX6600 for about $100 used though, and that will upgrade everything massively. (Don't buy the 6200, that's worse than the 5700)

Alright, so if I saved up $200, what would be a better graphics card to get? Plus I think I need a new power supply. Thanks for the help.

Don't know your specs (bus type, size of power supply).  Assuming your PS is OK, you should be able to get the 6800 for $100 on newegg.com or eBay, and you should spend the other $100 on 1 Gig of memory.

Well, what's your current power supply? Who makes it, and how many watts (and amps if you know)?

Get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814150157

Very nice card. From what I've heard, it OC's very well, it's quiet, stays cool, runs fast.

I'd recommend atleast a 350watt PSU for it, don't want to burn the powersupply up.

If you need a new PSU, get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817103933

It's a little costly, but when it comes to power supplies... you need an expensive one. Antec is a very good brand, and that PSU is very "future proof". It has SLI support and is 550watts.

Anyway, hope I helped.

I think thjat my power supply is 250 watts. It was stock in the Dell that I got probably oh, four years ago? I remember that this was the best graphics card because of that reason as well as my slots on my MoBo or something didn't fit up? I'm not really that computer savvy so maybe someone can help clear this up?

So you have a Dell motherboard? You will need a special powersupply then. Dell is retarded and an ATX plug will not fit in their motherboards, they have a special powersupply connector. I think you can buy an adaptor though, not sure.

do NOT get a 6800xt! Why? Because it's nowhere near as fast as a real 6800. The XT is cheaper version. Get a 6800gs, x800gto, 6800 vanilla, or an x1600 if you're low on cash

6800xt: 8 pixel pipelines
6800gs: 12 pixel pipelines (very noticable difference!) unlockable to 16 (big difference) if you're lucky

DO get a good PSU though. And remember that wattage is not the most important! a 500 watt $20 dollar PSU from REELCHEEPPSU'S INC. won't do what a 350 watt Antec PSU can do. What you're looking for, if you're interested, is the amount of amps on the 12v rails. Get a PSU with dual 12v rails so it delivers enough power.

on the other hand, CrazeD is right again about Dells: They suck for gaming and upgradability. You'll need a new case, motherboard, psu, and graphics card (as you're upgrading it) at the same time.

In the end, just get yourself a nice midrange PC. And with midrange I mean a PC that will run most games on high or mediums but can't handle $550 dollar video card features such as 6xAA and HDR at 1600x1200 with everything on ultra uber high.

Build it yourself! Even if you get someone to do it for you it will save you money and guarrantee you a BS-free pc

when you installed the game it put it on the highest setting that would look the best on your computer like in my laptop it automatically put the graphics on low/off so your game will be optimized perfect when you install.

Actually, some people on the Newegg reviews for that card said it is actually a 6800GS, and not a 6800XT.
