Hey all,

Just thought i would shared my disappointment. Not really complaining just talking.

I was on Wake last night for two maps. I don't really care for Wake all that much so I decided to go for my Explosives Ordinance badge. I was dropping AT Mines everywhere.

At the end of the first round I saw I had 16 kills. I know i only killed like, maybe 3 guys with my shotgun so the rest had to be the AT Mines. But I didn't get my badge. Huh??

Then I kinda thought back to in the rounds. The game told me when i killed guys, so i looked up a little higher and saw MR_HARLOW [killed] So-and-so. Didn't realize at the time that if it says that instead of MR_HARLOW [AT Mine] So-and-so that i didn't get credit for the Mine taking them out. Guess i was like, damaging the vehicle, they jump out, it explodes and kills them, i get credit for the kill but not the mine.

Was so bummed. seemed like Wake would be a better way then setting up claymores all over Karkand or something. Guess I will just have to try again later.

Its because after you die after setting the ATS it just goes to"killed" if that happens, you have to stay alive until you kill thm, same with clays

That explains the heli that I took out. I had a chopper come in low toward me and I shot at it with my shotgun. it blew up. I was like, no way. I shot down a chopper with a shotgun. He musta been hurting. But it said i [killed] him. Guess he must have gotten low enough to trigger one of my mines.

On of the other ways to not have your AT mine kills register is if you are in a vehicle when the mine goes off.
The kill can be registered as the vehicle you are in ie you [FAV] some_bloke_in_a_tank

It's been like that since 1.2x

I have had a chopper land on my mines before on wake at the north village. There where three guys in the Helli too.

Just got my expert explosive today, setting clays for the mindless drones in the "cattle chute" south of the hotel in Karkand ... no way could I get 30 kills with AT mines or C4 -- just not that good with those.

I don't know about the dying after laying the mine part for certain... but I don't think this is true. I can recall getting [at mine] kills after I have died.

However, if you have 3 guys in a vodnik and they run into your mine, you should get 3 [at mine] kills. However, many, many times one or two of the guys will see the mine coming and jump out of the vehicle just before hitting the mine. The vehicle then explodes and they're [killed]... and you miss out on your [at mine] kill. Explosives badges are easiest with claymores at Karkand or Sharqi. C4 can do the trick too sometimes.

If you're really into mine kills though, you can do well at Daqing oilfields near 'old city' and 'oil cisterns' as the ground is dark and difficult to see the mines coming for incoming enemy vehicles. Also, I like to drive a transport into enemy base, hop out and lay a mine at the vehicle. Then go and do some killing. Someone will certainly want that transport and you get your [at mine] kill.

You are absolutely correct on this. If you are in a vehicle, you will NEVER get explosives credit for mines, claymores, or C4. I think it counts as a roadkill in the vehicle for some reason. EA needs to fix this.

This would make sense to me. If you lay a mine and then die... you will get [at mine] credit if your kit is still there. If your kit disappears but the mine is still there, then it's just a [killed] kill.

Ok, so last night I managed to get the Exp. Badge. sucks that it had to be on Karkand to get it but i guess you do what you gotta do.

But I at least got it for strategically placed mines. First one blew south of the Hotel (I was MEC) the second two blew on teh Bridge at the train wreck. Those two happened almost simultaneously so I think there was a tank and an APC coming across at the same time. Three booms, five kills. Nice.
