Ok. Just got me an ATI1600 Pro PCIE video card with 512 megs on board.
Threw it in the computer, turned everything on full for bf2 and fired it up. Wow this game looks stunning.
I had it on 800x600 before and everything on low.

My screen is now set to 1024x768.

Is this the best way to run this game, with everything on full and Anti Aliasing on 6 or is there an optimal setting .

What do you guys set things at?

I notice is still takes a wee while for the game to load up and there are usually a few guys running around before I get in there. ( I wanna be first guy at that helecopter LoL)

I play at an internet cafe, and always on the best computers, (dual core 6.8ghz total) Good graphics card, good everything, but I find that I, personally, get alot more kills on lowest quality possible.
Dude, that's totally not how computers work. Just because you're playing on a machine with a dual core 3.2GHz processor does NOT mean that you have a computer working at 6.8GHz. Not even close. Actually, you're going to get much better !gaming! processing with a medium-end AMD athlon (3800+ and up) than you will with one of those hot monsters.

To get back on topic, I run everything at full, with aa x2, and have no problems at all, and average 45-60 fps with an x850xt with 256 onboard. That being said, I also have a 4000+ single core, 2 gigs of custom timed ocz platnium dual channel DDR400 ram, and my processor/ram is oc'd a little bit. Running the game off dual 74 gig raptors in RAID 0 doesn't hurt either.

using dual core for bf2 is a waste, because it is only a single core app (last time i checked).

anyways, i run everything low, eventho i have a amd 3200 @ 3.2, x800xl, 1 gig ocz gold.  why?  because i have zero shadows so no one hides from me   everything is really bright and it is easy to distinguish player models from buildings ect.

Not necessarily. If u run the OS on one core and dedicate the other to BF2 then u get BF2 without the OS hogging the processor.

the core is 100% on bf2 when it is running.  it isnt doint much os processing.  however, there is a lot of windows junk in the memory as bf2 is running, which is why its important to have a lot of ram

Another thought that's left out by most tweak guides.... create a 5 gig partition on a non-system drive, and assign your page file to it. This helps LOADS.
