i believe a lot of folks here are going to yell "SEARCH!!!!" at me but please believe me i've searched this before posting. i'm pretty new to bf2, been playing just over a month. i have nearly all of the basic badges, but i've been having trouble with the basic ordinance badge. i just cant seem to get it! i read ubar and it says i need 5 kills with c4/at mine/claymore but so far i've failed to get that badge. several times i've played specifically to get that badge and counted my kills but still zilch. can anyone help?

- need help with basic ordinance badge
Gi-had on karkand like crazy. That's how i got it.
i've done both. jihad jeep, claywhoring, even mining every vehicle i see. i know for a fact that i've gotten more than 5 kills many times yet i still dont have the badge
Keep on minin´!
Mine the heavy traffic routes on karkand. Keep a support at hand for ammo.
Nothin´like watching a infantry-packed hummer die and bingo, there´s your badge.

Just set C4 traps in corridors or alleys. You can get your basic badge pretty easily that way

I'd do it playing sniper on Sharqi; you'll want to do this on a server where friendlies don't set off clays of course. The 'secret' is to play on a medium or large map with only 6-12 people on a side, that way there's likely to be caps and recaps and you can set your clays to defend a lot of flags. You'll want to have a commander who'll drop supply crates around or a friendly support guy to keep you topped up but each time you die you get a fresh set so it really shouldn't be hard this way as the round will last a good 20-30 minutes. I've gotten it doing precisely this multiple times recently, most of the time the very first game with a new account, so it went partway to getting basic sniper too, which is nice
thanks for all the tips and everything but the burning question is why didnt i get the badge when i had more than 5 kills?
I got vet and basic in one round on karkand with clays. I got expert with clays too on a high point karkand.
If you had truly searched for this, you would have found an answer to this question because it has been posted about a hundred times (I've posted it about 5 of those times). But, I'll do it again because I want to be helpful ... and I feel your pain ... that's a lot of explosives kills for not even getting the basic.dilun wrote:

There are two opinions why you aren't getting the badge at five kills:
(1) A few people believe there is a server glitch that awards the badge randomly: 5, 6 or 7 kills.
(2) But, the majority of people (including those who have counted) note that for the kills to count toward the badge the screen must first say dilun [claymore] victim rather than something like dilun [killed] victim. Second, the kills must happen while you are alive and not dead or counting down to a respawn.
Keep at it ... before long, you will earn the badge. And look on the bright side: the basic badge used to be 13 kills before the 1.3 patch!

Sharqi or Karky map 64 , (dont know if ya all have it but beeing USMC in Sharqi beeing Sniper gives you advantage for MEC who has to come to cap flags .)Sniper you start with , change kits you find while playing from dead people who are or Spec ops or Engi then use all demolitions C4 & AT mine ASAP and make sure to kill some with both kits then change back to sniperwhore and put Claymore at nearest team flag you see or strategic points on the map. Its the combination that counts!dilun wrote:

thats how i got mine mine mine MINE Veteran was differant story think i did it on Warlord Palace ;P C4 at stairs and near flags and clays each corner ,get Ammo ASAP then second you see you killed some with clay drop another on good points on map ... try Balcony to nearest flag in palace where insurgents have UAV trailer standing . People will hate you for it but it will get you points and kills. goodluck .
So....do you just need a TOTAL of 5 kills with ANY of the ordinances.....or do you have to use all of them for at least 1 of the kills?
Never thought I'd recommend doing this, but here are a few suggestions:
-Jihad jeep on 64 player Karkand.
-Place claymores near the entrances to Hotel on Karkand 64 player.
-Spam mines near the entrances to Karkand 64 player.
I picked Karkand because you can earn most of your awards on that map.

anyway if i c4 a tank(with someone in it of cos), does it count as a road kill since its the exploding tank that kills the driver/gunner or does it count as a normal ordinance kill?
That is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! +1 for giving me my morning laughdilun wrote:

Any combination of claymore, C4, or mine ... it can be all claymore if you want, or you can kill with a mixture.Tunacommy wrote:

I usually have to get 1 to 2 more kills or points to get an award than is needed for some reason. For Expert Ground Defense I had 20 kills IAR, but it didn't give me the award; I had to go for it again. For Veteran Sniper I again had to take a second go. You also have to be careful that your Claymore kills someone within a certain short amount of time after your death; if it kills them after a certain short amount of time it will say...
InviSniper [killed] victim
... instead of...
InviSniper [Claymore] victim
This amount of time is unknown at the moment, but it's around 30 or 40 seconds. But 20 or even 30 kills IAR with explosives is easy if you know how to get it. Using the strategy below I've gotten over 55 kills IAR with Claymores.
My advice is to use the enviornment to your advantage. If you see crates lay a Claymore around the side of them so they don't see it until it's too late; people won't run towards something they see. The best map without a doubt is Warlord in the Special Forces expansion. Be SAS and go cap the 3rd Floor of the Palace at the begining of the round, but lay some Claymores around some corners so if someone decides to run in and try to save the cap, Boom! If you're lucky you'll get some nice Palace battles going on in which you can get 10-12 kills per battle. One side will eventually take the other over, but don't fret. The other side will always come back and take a flag back. This is how I got my Veteran and Expert.
Expert Explosives Ordinance:

Yes, I wasn't in the Palace, but soon my young Padawan you will learn the ways of the Clays and you too will truely be an Explosives Expert.

They should include hand grenades in the requirement for the explosive ordinance badges.
I agree.SiMSaM16 wrote:

I wasn't making fun of you, I just didn't think about someone still playing 1.22 ... but it makes sense, for a lot of people are unhappy with 1.3 because there are frequent crashes of servers and clients.dilun wrote:

The 1.3 patch was mostly to add support for the Armored Fury booster pack of 3 maps, but it also added jeep drops and dumbed down the criteria for many of the more difficult awards.
You can find lots of information about the 1.3 patch in the "1.3 Patch Chatter" forum area of BF2S.
