BF2S Forums How I finally got my Sniper K/D ratio above 1.0

Sniper isn't a hard kit, I find it to be the easiet to use.

Well, that's not entirely true... My aim is decent.. I'm just bad at picking spots I guess.  I fire one shot, I die, and a few seconds later I get a kill assist.  I get lots of kill assists as sniper... I think the most I got in a round was 12.

Put me in a Quake 3 environment and I do pretty good.  Put me in BF2 with a rifle and my bullets go everywhere except where my crosshairs are pointing.

If you want a great K/D ratio, find a good spot somewhere near the hotel on karkand and spend all your time there. Ignore the flags, ignore your teams performance, ignore your lousy spm ignore all other maps.

Aim for the head instead of the torso -- seriously. Don't take the shot unless it's a headshot. I still suck as sniper but that made a world of difference for me.

Hmm.. it really isn't hard.  If you can't use a weapon well practice on the AI, yes they are easy to kill but you get a feel for the weapon and how it works.

Using claymores is very effective if you know where to place them.  It's also helpful to your team.  My friends and I have (squad of 3) defended the east Karkand alley from US infantry advance.  Support, Medic and me as a Sniper.  Just place the claymores in the alleys facing east and back off you'll get several kills that way (when you get a chance refresh the areas).  And most people will charge down the wall blindly (easy kills).  It prevents them from charging deeply into Karkand.

I feel guilty when as a sniper a base falls.  I feel the need to take it back.  Which isn't hard.  Kill someone, take his kit.  When done kill an enemy sniper (plenty of them around) and go back to sniping.
