So OrangeHound, this will fix my biggest video settings related pain in all of BF2? Not being able to see armor from a chopper that's more than a 100/200 meters away?
Meh, I'm running mediums, low lighting, 2x aa, high texture filtering. A weird mix but hey I still get 80 FPS average. I can't run highs because of 1gb of ram. Although if i only turn up one or two settings to high, I should be able to cope.
Yes. If you are interested in maximum viewing of dynamic objects (infantry & vehicles) then the absolute first video adjustment to make is to maximize your View Distance - get that to 100% ... if you are not lagging, then get that Geometry to medium (at least) and preferably high. Because you have 80 fps, there is no reason to believe that you couldn't run Geometry at high. You will notice a marked increase in your ability to see far away dynamic objects.
By the way, I've noticed that AA tends to really take up GPU horsepower ... I've found that increasing my resolution cures AA problems with less of a FPS penalty. Try it, perhaps you will have a similar experience.
