BF2S Forums Why supports shoot attack choppers?

Yes I stated earlier that I understand that people shoot chopper when it's smoking but...

I wrote:

Why do they shoot when they see that I just came from direction where airfield is? (Obviously full health because it came from getting repairs at airfield)

You pilots are missing the point. One PKM vs One helo is not the real comparison to make. Massed small arms fire v Helo is the right way to do it. But I will still engage 1v1 a helo with my PKM because I know if he is chasing me he is letting our team's tanks and helos break his m8s up.

I lost count of how many arrogant pilots I have chased away smokin like a burnt piece of bacon or sent to digital dust with my Mighty PKM...the PKM along with AT missiles or GLs can open up helo's like a ziplock baggy.  2-3 PKMs can down a chopper in no time and they will be firing from 3 different directions. When small arms all concentrate on a single bird it's seconds are numbered in single digits. The only reason helo's seem to own in this game is that people still think they're playing CS and don't think in the 3rd dimension.

Yeah right. If people would get into little groups and do that. But they don't. I have usually just one PKM shooting me, that has never happened to me.

lol yes some do get into small groups even large groups!!! But you are partially right - alot of people just don't get how powerful teamwork can be so they don't combine fires to defeat targets. Do you play on servers with mostly Lone Wolves?

I was just sitting here trying to count the number of helos I have seen shot down by Infantry and got bored after around 20 (and they weren't the helopad snipes either - last night a clan m8 took out a moving Cobra with his sniper rifle), I guess that wasn't you?   you are just lucky I guess....

The PKM is seriously excellent against helicopters. It isn't as fast as the mounted 50 cals on the transport vehicles, but it's still good. Two or more PKMs are just as good as a mounted 50 cal, the only difference is you're a lot easier to kill.

The PKM is also devastating against transports. On a number of occasions I've used it to take out humvees and buggys. It's very satisfying, especially if they were either trying to run you over or shoot you from a turret.

The PKM: it fucks shit up.


Oh but edit: Teamwork is totally the bomb. Slightly OT but on Sharqi a pair of MEC were whoring the tank (eg, sitting outside flags laying down MG fire and tank shells, and one of them was constantly repairing, plus they had supply crates). I couldn't do anything because by the time I got to the area he already had 2 supply crates + eng, but I convinced my whole squad to spawn AT with me and we put down a serious barrage of AT fire and took it down in a few seconds.

The best part was we then advanced to the hills around the first flag and every time the MEC tank emerged with the same two guys, as soon as they were 5 - 10 m past the buildings, they'd get suddenly hit and destroyed by AT rockets. They failed to learn the essential rule of life; stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

??? What part of the helo were you hitting? Was helo in flight? Did all Support gunners aim at the same part? I have seen half that many PKMs take out a Cobra!!!

We were hitting the front of the blackhawk, it was in flight, we all had no choice but to hit the front, It wasn't PKMs and it wasn't a cobra. Cobra's are much weaker than blackhawks so there's your answer

When I'm ducking into and out of cover, taking potshots at your helo and you're chasing me, that's time you could be spending doing something useful for your team.
