OK, so I was just playing Strike at Karkand and figured I'd help out somebody in a tank by going gunner. I mean, everybody knows the gunner on the tank is very important, to do this even easier I joined the guy's squad. It was only me and him in the squad so I could always spawn in the gunner seat whenever he was in the tank. Well, I do that and he yells at me telling me to get into the APC. I don't listen and he keeps yelling me saying bail out, I just sit there patiently. He keeps going and he eventually kicks me off his squad. He kept kicking me off his squad whenever I rejoined. He just refused to have somebody help him. What the hell has happened? Shouldn't somebody in a tank be happy they have a gunner supporting him? Sigh, I wish people actually had a sense of teamwork nowadays.

Why would he want a gunner when you can do an armored convoy? (tank + apc as engi)

Well people kept using the other APCs, that's why I figured I'd leave them for people who were using them the whole time, besides, gunners are incredibly important for tanks.

I dont even bother join a squad unless Im in a chopper whats the point, apart from a mobile spwan point. So ya I agree teamwork has gone down the drain in BF.

The majority of the time Im in a squad, my squad leader is off in pointless places.  I was playing Ghost Town today, and I went to spawn on him, but he was way off in the hills on the side of the map...Im guessing he was sniper, I didnt pay attention, but there isnt a point of spawning on him way out there and having to walk half an hour to get to the action.  This is why I generally create a squad, and be my own squad leader so I can do stuff that I see as beneficial, and others can work with me if they are so inclined.

I think a gunner on a tank is somewhat important...especially effective in fending off Spec Ops and their damn C4.  But other than that....they just post a target for the AT guys, easy kill for them, plus a hit on the tank.

lol was that me? I did the same thing yesterday, I was in a tank and kept yelling at my gunner to bail and grab the enemy APC, but this guy actually did as he was told and joined my squad too. I wanted him to steal the APC so that the enemy wouldn't grab it (enemy base), Together we rode side by side and capped sooooo many flags all by ourselves.

I would totallly agree with the fact of a gunner is a very big help as support role for the tank. I would also agree that the team work has gone way down hill espeically on Karkand. I am a tank whore myself and love having a gunner that is there for support but most players when I am laying down stratigically placed AT mines they jump in and run off with the tank and that is why I will tell them to bail out of my top turret unless it's someone I have played with before and I know they wont do that to me. I dont mean to toot my own horn but I am a damn good TANK WHORE and if someones good at something for the sake of the team  you should let them do that thing. Me and my playing partner EVIL_ACHERON have had to pull several rounds out of the fire on KARKAND lately just do to the fact no one wants to work as a team to get the job done. Most of the time we can pull the round out but if the other team has any team work going at all its hard for two players to fend off the entire other team if you know what I mean!

TEAM WORK SUCKS ON THIS GAME ANYMORE, which is what the whole game was designed around anyways. My question would be to those stupid lone wolf's "whats not fun about working together and kicking the other guys ass's?"

Whenever I go to a server, I check the map over. If it looks like one squad is working together, I usually join it, if not, then I create my own squad and leg it leroy jenkins style until someone joins and we work together as a team.

I became pretty reknown for teamwork on one server, I had a Major, 2 captains, and a 2nd Lt. join my squad because they knew I was good team player.

However, you just have to be in the right place.

I would say that in this instance, he was right...I'd rather have an APC escort than a gunner ANy day of the week.  Also, if more people joined the squad, then they couldn't spawn on him with you in the gunner.

But you're right, team play is nonexistant, largely because there are no rewards for it.  Even medics, who should be the ultimate team players, are usually stat-padders or cowards who will gladly let someone kill you as many times as possible so they can just revive you for the points.  And engineers are easily amongst the most important, if not THE most important class in the game, but no one plays them because after an hour of twisting your wrench around on a destroyed team vehicle or ordinance, you get one measly point, while suppors and medics toss packs around wheresoever they please and get a point sooner or later.

I always tell gunners to bail out. 95% of the time, repairing or laying mines gets your tank stolen by the asshat in the gunner seat. If it's someone I trust, thats another thing, but I have had too many tanks stolen while I was trying to repair it.

I was just this week playing a damn good round. I was on a team where it just seemed everybody was clicking I have not seen that in months... It will probably be 2142 by the time I see it again...

I totally agree with you Stryyker, I was just saying that if the other guys have any team work at all going it does make it alittle more difficult thats all. I wish people would just play the game the way it was meant to be played and that it supports a healthy communication stance and good team work.

I will say it again WHAT IS NOT FUN ABOUT WORKING AS A TEAM!

Oh - by the way good luck with your new computer Stryyker!

I haven't read any other persons comments but I know exactly why he kicked you.  If you gun in the tank on Karkand and he gets out to repair and you keep shooting, you open him up for AT rockets that come out of nowhere by following your tracer bullets.  You make it impossible for him to hide when you keep shooting at nothing, or even at something.  This causes his tank to go boom.

But, the positive side of having a gunner is that every once in a while you will get a repair point for fixing your own tank!
