is there file in the BF2 directory that has the settings for characters? your mouse sensitivity, keyboard settings and such?
Controls.con houses the keyboard bindings and mouse settings. This file can be found at My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000X. (000X being the number of profile you wish to edit, chances are you want 0001.)
