I was reading the forums, and came across the idea that getting an expert pistol badge would get you a desert eagle for a sidearm.  In my opinion, that would be a wonderful way to do things.  For instance, if you got the basic transport badge, maybe you can drive a little faster, turn a little sharper.  If you got the veteran explosives badge, maybe you get one more claymore, maybe when you get the expert air defense the missiles lock faster, what do you all think?

I like it. I have often thouht about something like this. I like the option of getting various unlocks with the various badges. I thought that maybe if you get a veteran or expert badge your accuracy with weapons in that class would go up, recoil would lessen, etc. Overall though, I would support the enhancement of of your character by the awarding of badges and ribbons.

Yes and no.  The parts of your idea about changing the physics of driving or time it takes to missile lock would be too complicated, difficult to balance, and probably difficult to code correctly.  Access to the unlocks and/or increased ammo etc would be easy to do however.  The idea of tying unlocks to badges intrigues me though and in a way makes sense.

For example, I got my ranks mostly through AT play, and I recently chose the L85 medic unlock, a gun that I love over the basic medic unlock.  Now is it really fair that from the beginning I get to play with the unlocked weapon when I have less than 15 minutes played on that class?  Maybe, but I don't think so.

Of course, this topic kind of touches on the fundamental game design and would be unchangeable at this point.  Everybody already has most of the unlocks.  But it sure would've been nice to see a bit more thought in the way they designed the entire advancement tree.

what if you never played medic because you hated the rifle.
i think its a good idea but not for main weapons (its good the way it is). but with stronger sidearms and AT rockets its great or maybe larger med/supply kits, faster wrench and timedetonation for C4.
