I DID SEARCH!

PROBLEM SOLVED

BF2 has been fine since the day I bought it.  I had lag for a while at first, but i fixed it when I turned off Windows Zero config.  I haven't had lag since, but a few days ago my hard drive crashed and I had to get a new one.
I installed everything back, bf2, sf, and patch 1.3,  then I tried to play.  I start playing and i get "There is a problem with your connection."  I assume this would only happen once so I continued.  It happened again so I shut down the game to search for the problem.  At first I thought I forgot to turn off Windows Zero Config, but when I turned it off I still got the message.  I have tried...

Turning off the firewall
De-fragmenting
Running bf2 in affinity mode
Disabling Xfire and AVG
Manually updating Punkbuster
Removing the BF2 folder in My documents and retrieving my account
Updating Nvidia Drivers
Reinstalling patch 1.3 (Full)
Restarting the computer
Uninstalling AVG
Reinstalling BF2
Reinstalling Wireless card Drivers- FIXED PROBLEM
Updating Wireless card Drivers- Performance increase
Installing patch 1.4- Performance increase

Specs (according to xfire)-
(Its a Dell Xps generation 4)
Processor:    Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:    2048MB RAM (2x 512MB, 1x 1GB)
Video Card:    NVIDIA GeForce 6800
Sound Card:    SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [DCC0]
Wireless router:  Linksys WRT54GX

(Tell me if I need to include anything else)

NOTE:  The message doesn't always disconnect me, but the game is still unplayable.  Also, I'm no computer genius, I'm only 13.  Oh and If I have to do anything in BIOS (?), I can't.  Dell disabled that so they wouldn't get hundreds of technical support calls from people who accidentally overclocked there processor, Video card, etc while messing around with it.

Oh and yes, my return/enter key hates me for typing this post

strange question. what do u use now that u dont use the zero config?
it doesnt have anything to do with ur problem.

BTW this problem is a problem with the 1.3 patch. honestly your lucky thats all that wrong.

Before I reinstalled, I left it on until it connected to the router, then I turned it off so it wouldn't cause any lag.  Now thats not working. It was a problem in the past

Thats what I read.  Maybe I should try reinstalling again.  I have nothing to lose.

I have also had the same kind of problem, up until a week ago when i formatted my HD and reinstalled windows i had hardly any lag with the 1.3 patch i got the usual stuff with server crashes and CTD's but lag was in a whole not bad apart from when i entered a server i got lag for the first few minutes of playing.

But now since i reinstalled everything when i am playing on the server i use day in and day out i will be playing my game and the graphics are really choppy i get 'problem with your connection' flash up but doesn't disconnect me, end up crashing the jet i am in which gets annoying aftetr the tenth time especially if someone else is in the jet or chopper as they think i can't fly and the server is fine, my ping goes from 80 up to 900 some times ping is fine and get all these problems.

I have tried moving my paging file to a secondary HD optimized my paging file, creating a gaming profile and disabling uneccesary services and background processes done pretty much all of the tweaks found in the top 10 tweak guide on these forums also have ran that many spyware and adaware removal tools it is unreal.

and i have ran different DSL tests to test the quality of my connection and they range from 98% to 99% so i think that is pretty darn good

I am running out of things to try  please help
