Should mines detonate in case of direct hit?

I suppose it would be slightly more realistic and interesting for tactical use if anti-infantry and may be even anti-vehicle mines would detonate in case of direct bullet hit or granade explosion.
I'd like to see ur opinions.

Nah. Make laying them next to a total waste. Most mines are easy to spot but for the times they arn't, people, (in tanks and APCs especially,) would just make sure to fire infront of their vehicles a lot. I'm pretty sure mines are designed not to explode under these curcumstances. Something about weight needing to be applied blah blah blah...

Grenades do make mines explode.  I've killed many a tank with that technique.

yes i think they should be able to blow up because engineers should be able to put the mines underground and in real life if u shoot at a mine they should blow up. as for clamores i dont know if thats realistic, for them to blow up.

I may be wrong, but I remember that when I shot a c4 with my tank it didn't dissapear... surely if a nade does the job a shell would too?

no no nothing can destroy c4, (not that i know of) mines can be destroyed by nades and tanks but u cant destroy c4, quite right as well. plastic explosive isnt supposed to be volatile before detonation.

You can smack C4 with an anvil and it wont go off, but it you ring it up with a cell phone, BOOM!!!

I didn't know about the mine-grenade thing. Thanks for that, I'll make sure to use it. Especially because there's always the wily motherfucker who sees the mines and just fires his shells from just behind the line.

AFAIK the only way to blow C4 is arty or another package of C4 right next to it.

About the explosion of mines by direct hit:
No, definately it should stay at it is. Else people could shhot my claymores and stab me instead of blowing my claymore and me with nades ^^
