2142 what will happen our stats?

Guys when 2142 comes out its pretty obvious the ranking system for bf2 won't be available
So.....

will it be possible to include in a final patch prior to account servers going offline to put our stats on a local file?

or will ea be ever so nice and keep the account servers running and just add 2142 onto our accounts?

this has been niggling in my gut for some time cus i like the sense of achievement i get from earning points, badges, medals, ribbons, weapons and ranks. To be honest i'd be gutted if i couldn't keep playing bf2 like i do now after 2142's rrelease i enjoy this game and like counter strike will be playing it for years.

Im not sure what EA has in store for us. Perhaps they might only award the highest ranking players by allowing them to keep a lot of not all of their points. But then again that would be just kind of stupid and pointless. They might just set us all back to privates, with a zero global score, and watch us duke it out, find some amazing glitch that someone exploits, then complain for a patch to come out, then complain about the patches problems disregarding the fact that they fixed the problem they were complaining about in the first place, then people will leave for other games, start lives, find exploited stats, and submit them on the forums here while we all wait for BF:Civil War or maybe like Battlefield 3.

I dont think were gonna lose out stats in bf2, i dont think EA is that stupid... we'll probly have too make a new account or something for 2142 or something.

Theres no way theyre gonna shut down BF2 stats or servers.

I mean for cripes sake there are still people playing 1942. Thats money to them right there. And EA knows of the people boycotting 2142, so why shut it down and make us all go to 2142?

They may carry over our PIDs/names so we wont have that hassle, but granted our BF2 stats will stay the same.

yeah Id be very suprised/shocked actually if they shut the current ranking system down.

Most likely they will amke a new one for the next onem and you will just haev to make an new account.

Well actually the answer is very simple.
EA isn't the one keeping our stats. Gamespy keeps our stats.
I do not know the length of the contract EA made out with Gamespy to run the statservers, but I'm guessing it is a few years.

So you will have two possible scenarios:
1. EA will append the stats to your current Gamespy account (and maybe enable some incentive program regarding built up BF2 stats to carry over to 2142, for instance, you get your 1st kit fully unlocked.)

2. EA will make you create a new acount and we all start over from zero (a pity, but a fair choice).

Regarding the boycot of 2142.... In August 2006 there will be a public beta for 2142 (or demo) so you can try for free. If the gameplay is good a lot of boycotters will sucumb to the markering powers of EA (just like the EF and AF boycoters).

Obviously my ass? Where have you been? It's a bunch of XML files, you could hold the entire rank system on only a few hard drives (maybe even one industrial drive).

They are putting everyone back to 0.

They are not going to turn of the BF2 ranking servers.

They are not going to move you stats over.

You will be able to chnage you nickname.

And finally there is a really nice search button up there.

for your own information jamez i did search for it no results...if you check i've only posted what 3-6 times ever because i usually find stuff by searching

That would just be rubbish, i like to work for my rewards. If you have like 100,000 points on BF2 you played it too much and its not EAs problem.

I personally dont care much about the points and the way the game is ranked is so different i dont think it would work anyway. Nice idea but no thanks.
