Hey guys,

I am a new BF2 players and i got to tell ya, it ROCKS!  I am mad at me for wasting so much time on FEAR and CSS and not trying BF2 before LOL  But at least I know how to handle a gun...a little ;P


I am now in the process of practicing my flying.  I can basically fly a Chopper and land it almost where I want it, (almost LOL)  and I can control a Jet in the air, but i can NOT land it no matter what i try.


I am flying with my mouse and keyboard...  I think some of you expert flyers use a Joystick?  Is this way better? Easier than with the mouse?  And do you use it for the Chopper as well?  Any recommended brand/model?


I am having a real hard time killing stuff with aircrafts though.  Its like i just cant lock on and kill these bastards

Also, how is this Special Bomb targetter in the chopper`s gunner seat work?  I never was able to shoot anything but myself with it (when we were on the ground I mean :S)  I know you have to right click to activate its camera, but them how do u control it?


Any help/tiips will, be much appreciated,

I'm using a mouse and a keyboard and I'm pretty good especially for flying chopper.

In chopper never try to cap a flag because you can be hit easily by sraw/eryx.

Fly slow but not too much because again you could be hit by sraw/eryx to give your gunner enough time that he need to kill the enemy.

Fly around enemy spawn point.

To give your gunner the better view for guided missile you must know where place the target but it's different for each chopper.

For USMC place the crosshair ( the horizontal line in your cockpit ) just over your target.

For MEC place the target between the crosshair and the rectangle which says the gunner view.

For PLA place the crosshair a little bit higher the target.

Learn where are all the anti air to prevent an attack.

i find flying with joystick easyest. kb only is ok. mouse is near impossible since you are not able to make continuous turns/loops

for jets:
just practice practice practice on a local server. a 64 player dragon is really useful as there are lots of targets to hit. 64 Oman is also good. practice low level flying (especially useful when dodging missiles or to attack from unusual angels). a good run would be to fly down the road at wake below tree level at full speed. dive bombings help hit targets. with more practice you will be able to hit targets at lower angles. even when attacking a tank mg as long as possible as you may be able to hit soft targets nearby like gunners or engys repairing. for dogfighting use the mg primarily (10 hits or so and the enemy is dead). for landing fly towards the airfield at about 600km/h and then go to full reverse. when you are at about 400 km/h (you should be only a few meters above the ground) the speed will start to decrase dramatically as the reverse kicks in. pull up to about 10-20° above ground, and touch down for a happy landing. also never start a fight you cant win. in order to line up your gunner on the bombers you need to fly at your targets slowl so that he has enough time to lock on (which always seem to take forever)

for transport helis:
fly them either super low (so you are below the AA screen) or very high (so you are above the AA). only cap flags in the heli if you have UAV support.

for attack helis: use sneaky tactics. stay out of view all the time and only pop up for your gunner to fire a missle and then drop down straight away. Also watch out for those mean 0.50 cal mounted guns. Repair whenever you are below 2/3 health. Take a look at the heli tutorials in the files section

Thats great info guys.  Thanks a bunch!

I really hope to see you online for i think its a great way to learn to hang out with a  good pilot and see exactly what hes doing.


Ok now ill start searching the boards for all possible infos I can get.

Who knows...maybe I will be a great pilot some day

When shooting the tv missile in the attack helo, you can control the missile's direction by left clicking. Where ever the crosshair is after you fired the missile off, that is where the missile will turn to when you click. It's as simple as lining it up, shooting, and making sure you keep the target as centered as possible. Easy kills.
