BF2S Forums What kind of server load times do you get?

I connect c.30 seconds but I have connected in less than 20 seconds before. It all depends on your internet connection, your computer, your graphics settings in BF2, the server, the map you want to play, and the patch you are running.

I would say that 30-60 seconds is average

if you don't mind playing in legoland, you can set your settings to low to improve the loading speed. 2 gig ram, a good hard disk and nice internet connection do the rest.

I noticed a massive change when I went from 1 to 2 gig of ram. I usually get on first now. I didn't notice any load time difference when going from 1mb to 2mb broadband.

Loading: 2 mins.

Client Data: 1 min.

To clarify- takes 75 seconds to get finished loading and another 45 seconds to verify client data.  The total is 2 minutes.

My system has 3GB ram and on a 6MB/Sec cable connection.  The server I connect to is a couple states away in Texas.  I get a pretty low ping of about 44.

Someone mentioned video settings.  I do have everything set to the highest except no AA.

Stop linking to PORN sites.   Try using some type of anti spyware program like Adware SE.  I (LOL) sometimes get slow connection times like that.  I run a couple of Apps restart XP, after that I am good.

Windows Defender
X-Cleaner
CWShredder
Hijack This!

And watch all running and startup programs via The Ultimate Troubleshooter

My main delay is the verifying client data pish... currently only got 1Gb ram, must go online and buy more

Good tip for reducing ingame lag (might already be posted...)

When you are loaded and on a level, open console with the ` key above TAB.

Type pb_sleep 500, press return

type pb_writecfg, press return

exit console, and enjoy a longer dwell time of Pubkbuster scanning your drive! It usually scans all your game files every 20 seconds then reports to PB server.. After this tweak (recommended by PB support) it will only do it once every 500 seconds, which is the maximum permissable dwell time.

Our computers are almost identical! LOL

For me, it's the other way around when it comes to the load times.
Loading: 1 min
Client Data: 2 mins

Specs:
Intel P4 2.0ghz
768MB RAM
100GB HDD
GeForce FX 5200

Not only are my load times long, but my FPS drops from 30 to 15 when I get hit by a grenade, and my FPS drops again to 15 whenever I use the L96A1 and zoom in to buildings on a city map like karkand.

Im almost always one of the first guys in a new round.

About 10-15 sec from the moement i pick a sever to start playing.
