Whenever i get a new choice of unlocks, it wont let me select the final upgrade for a certain kit. In other words, its making me upgrade every kit first before i can start upgrading the final upgrades to the kit, ex: i unlocked the m95 for snipin but i cant unlock the LA961 (sp?) until i unlock every other kit first. im thinkin its something they put in the 1.3 patch but im not sure because my friend is able to unlock anything first and doesnt have the problem i have.

Yea you need to use the shinny search button located by teh top of the screen it helps alot!
You need to play a BATTLEFIELD 2:Speacial Forces round, and then you get the sencond tier/unlocks, like in your case teh l96A1.
You either need to buy it or have a friend play one round for you what ever they both work.
When you play around these unlocks will be unlockable to say:
L96A1
P-90
MG36
G36C
Scar-L
Mp-7
F2000
